Topic: The Problem With Evolution?

Mon 01/23/12 06:24 PM
Why is it that so many theists have a problem with the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection as proposed by Darwin?
Why is it so hard for them to accept that after a few thousand years of development mankind began to use the brainpower granted them [by God?] to observe the natural world and develop an explanation of the origin and evolution of biological beings using reason, logic and evidence - rather than the guesswork and superstison of primitive desert-dwellers who knew far less than their descendants would?

Why should a 7000(?) year old theory be held accountable to a 150 year old theory? It was forgivable of primitive Man to believe in Geocentricism, since from our perspective is does indeed appear that the heavens revolve around a static Earth. Now we know the truth about our planet's position in the cosmos - but we do not grant the theory of Geoncentricism the same respect that we do of Creationism, yet we now have far better explanations for the origins of life than those hypothesised by ancient Hebrews. So why is it that modern-day theists easily accept that our planet orbits around a star yet find it so difficult to acknowledge that humans are just another species of animal? Why believe in gravity but not evolution?

in the religious aspect the best evidence for the theory of Evolution is God himself...even according to the bible God has arms and legs and some even claim that he has three heads ..oops ...I meant one head since The Trinity claims that 3=1

therefore before God evolved into God he had to have existed in some type of environment that forced him to to use muscles or at least been part of a species that evolved arms and legs in order to survive

..how do you take a religious stance and then mock it?

The main reason people won't argue or consider it; isn't because of all that nonsense...

..they'd rather believe in something, over nothing.

Believing we just 'are' leaves an emptiness and leaves life holding no true greater purpose. That we live, for no reason, and die simply because that is the cycle.

The main reason they won't debate it is cause, simply put, faith.

Best way I can think to put it is...

Say you loved someone with all your heart and refused to believe anything negative about them.

Yet you were constantly pounded by those deeming that their science proves, without a shadow of a doubt, your love is both preposterous and impossible.

If you cave in and say, 'Fine, you are right' then you are left with nothing and your very purpose and view on life will be drastically altered.

Not because he has three heads.. whatever relevance that was supposed to have.

Time for a ignorant Christian to school some atheists.

The "Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection as proposed by Darwin" has been rejected by science and now the most accepted theory of evolution is "punctuated equilibria".

The fossil record doesn't show small changes over long periods of time. The fossil record shows large changes over a very short period of time. So Darwin was wrong on the gradual changes part of his theory.

This has been a free service provided by an ignorant Christian who holds to "faith based thinking" (thanks for that nonsense term Bushidobillyclub).

it's the bible that say these things...do the bible then mock itself?

The main reason people won't argue or consider it; isn't because of all that nonsense...

to believe is to doubt......funches 3:16

Believing we just 'are' leaves an emptiness and leaves life holding no true greater purpose. That we live, for no reason, and die simply because that is the cycle.

that is the way religious people think

Faith is the ability to delude oneself

Say you loved someone with all your heart and refused to believe anything negative about them.

that perhaps might make them a fool...because...in some shape form or fashion...everyone lies ...

Yet you were constantly pounded by those deeming that their science proves, without a shadow of a doubt, your love is both preposterous and impossible.

I never mentioned science...I said according to the bible God has hands and legs..is what in the bible true?

If you cave in and say, 'Fine, you are right' then you are left with nothing and your very purpose and view on life will be drastically altered.

perhaps the purpose of life is to simply live it...according to the bible God created man to tend a garden ...so is that a good purpose?

Not because he has three heads.. whatever relevance that was supposed to have.

because it means that they worship three Gods not one

Oh, forgive me.. I forget it mentioned a God with three heads. How stupid of me.

to believe is to doubt......funches 3:16

That makes as much sense as...
Wow.. I can't actually think of anything dumber..

that is the way religious people think

No, it's really not.
Maybe you need to read more.

Faith is the ability to delude oneself

So quotes the man who stands on all three sides.
Oh yeah, we 'believe' you.

that perhaps might make them a fool...because...in some shape form or fashion...everyone lies ...

Yes, please, continue to just pick one part of a statement.
Makes you look so awesome.

I never mentioned science...I said according to the bible God has hands and legs..is what in the bible true?

..and this is where I say you should go back to learn how to read.
I mentioned one thing in regards to you.
The rest, I'm answering him.

perhaps the purpose of life is to simply live it...according to the bible God created man to tend a garden ...so is that a good purpose?

..it would have been more than perfect, had we not gained knowledge.

because it means that they worship three Gods not one

..no, they really don't.

One is the Father.
One is the Son.
One is the Holy Spirit.

Only one is God.
The others create the Trinity; however, if they were all Gods, they wouldn't have separate --wait, why the h--- am I even debating this with you?

I'm not answering your ridiculous questions.. I was answering his.

Well of course the newest theory will be the more accurate in this arena for sure.

There shouldn't be any problem with evolution.

wether it be god that created us (or not)
fact is...humans are evolutionary creatures..
science HAS proven that..
over time we adjust, adapt, and evolve do to many variables, environment, like types of available food, wetness, dryness, how cold, how hot etc etc..we truely are remarkable creatures

you said in one of your posts that things would be more perfect if you did not gain knowledge...and then have the gall to try and suggest to others to read more.....

the fact that you wanted to stay in the garden not even knowing that you were naked and wiping your butt with fig leaves for all eternity only displays your lack of drive

..indeed.

If only we could adapt a way to not destroy each other and everything else..

..we'd be awesome.

..weren't you the one just preaching to me about we were made in His image?

If he didn't have either.. neither would we.

Is that the part when the pigeon goes back to his flock to claim his (false) victory??laugh
