Cheers for one of the more-entertaining posts that I've read on here!  drinker

This may be a little bit too crazy, so you may want to sit down for this, but...

Have you ever thought of combining more than one of those options?? Say, become a gigolo for ISIS?? (I'm sure you wouldn't have to wear the goat suit ALL the time...) Just a thought...

Good luck! drinker

What is a curtain climber?
You do have Mingle family too you know :)

Thanks all.

Amazingly, my search engine failed to provide a definition for 'curtain climber', so I'll give it a try:

'curtain climber' - noun - An independently-mobile human being of preschool age. (See also 'ankle biter', 'yard ape', 'toddler', etc.)

No kids here, & this is the first Christmas without the wife... Feels really weird after all that time together... ohwell

I do have my sister's place to go to, she & her husband are good people, & she's got a "curtain-climber" that EVERYONE loves, so I won't be alone (strictly speaking). Guess I'll just have to adapt to this in much the same way as I have when people have passed on & aren't there any more... indifferent

Heh - this thread reminds me of one of the songs that I'll sometimes play on the way to my workout class - gets me all psyched for a good workout! winking

I just realized that the above link probably doesn't work because it contains a dash (or hyphen) character. That SHOULD have worked like this (crossing my fingers):

Heh - this thread reminds me of one of the songs that I'll sometimes play on the way to my workout class...

Results of a recent, nationally representative study show that genital herpes infection is common in the United States. Nationwide, 45 million people ages 12 and older, or one out of five of the total adolescent and adult population, is infected with HSV-2.

Most people who have herpes have no, or very mild symptoms. You may not notice mild symptoms or you may mistake them for another skin condition, such as a pimple or ingrown hair. Because of this, most people who have herpes do not know it

most routine STD checks do NOT include being checked for this one

just so ya know

I have a friend that has an STD, from a relationship very early in her life. When she becomes involved with someone and they want to move forward she does disclose her condition. It is surprising how many man are NOT deterred by this information.
So apparently there are many people who would date and become intimately involved with someone that has an STD.

OK, so WHERE exactly can I find that monastery that Batman trained at?? ohwell

Heh - laugh

Tokyo (AFP) - Anti-Christmas protesters calling themselves "Losers with Women" marched through Tokyo's streets Saturday, bashing the upcoming holiday as a capitalist ploy that also discriminates against singletons.

The group of about 20 -- part of the Communist-inspired group that routinely protests Western holidays -- marched under angry banners that read "Smash Christmas!" in Tokyo's Shibuya district, where couples and families strolled for holiday shopping.

The scrooges -- mostly single men -- said they were against capitalism and were opposed to the commercialisation of Christmas.

"In this world, money is extracted from people in love, and happy people support capitalism," said the head of the organisation, formally called Kakumeiteki Hi-mote Domei, or the Revolutionary Losers' League.

"Christmas is the most symbolic event for this," he added.

The man, who identified himself only by the pseudonym MarkWater, said the rally was also in support of unloved men.

"Unpopular men, who don't have a girlfriend or are not married, are overly discriminated. We want to break this barrier," he told AFP amid the shouting protesters.

In Japan, Christmas is not an official holiday and is mostly celebrated informally as a romantic event for couples, while the New Year's day is an occasion for family reunion.

The Christian population remains small in the Asian country, stores offer special holiday sales and people decorate Christmas trees at home.

The group has held past marches to denounce imported Western holidays, including rallies against Valentine's Day.

Most of my scars came from the fact that I was so unpopular elementary, junior high and high school that every one knew who I and I got my butt kick at least once a week sometimes more.

Yow - you definitely had it worse than I did. slaphead I'll bet you turned into a pretty decent fighter though. sad2 ohwell

I knew better than to get deeply involved with rodeo, so I don't have a ton of scars. I picked up 3 or 4 when I wrecked my bike into a car... Have a couple of nearly-invisible scars on one hand where I had to have pins put in to repair a boxer's fracture... Just a couple years later, I tore ligaments away from the bone in my wrist - that did some damage... grumble

Enjoyed a bubbling-hot molcajete (Mexican food) for dinner tonight. I think that it's been WAY too long since I've had bibimbap, so I might just have to go looking for a decent Korean restaurant soon... Or maybe some fried chicken!

If it is acceptable to break up via a telephone call, then why would it be unacceptable to use a more-modern form of communication?

Ehhh, I'm (personally) not especially impressed by an over-the-phone breakup either, but I recognize that everyone has to make their own decision on that.

Myself, I feel that if you cared for someone, you should have enough respect for them to look them in the eye, answer any reasonable questions they may have, & just show a basic level of respect for them. Kind of like THIS: winking laugh

(Of course the above is just a general guideline, if the situation involves something like domestic violence, instability or the like, ALL bets are off!) ohwell

In my eyes, trying to break up with someone via text message is bull$#it/chicken$#it/etc, etc, etc...

Have the bare minimum of cojones that it takes to treat the other person like an adult.

There is this waitress at a restaurant I went to and she came out and told me and then asked me out on a date

shocked shocked shocked WOW. I've gotta say, THAT is (in one sense) impressive as hell!! There's another thread on this site where quite a few women state that they wouldn't have the courage to ask a guy out without adding the STD into the mix! And she just lets you know straight from the shoulder...

I really don't think that I'd be able to be intimate with her, but she sounds like she could be worth getting to know... I am slightly in awe of the guts that it took for her to do that...

interesting question to think about

on one hand..if it's a stranger who ya just met say online or in real life
and they come up and shake your hand and say I would like to date you but I have "_____"
you would probably think oh great now I got wash my hand
no way in hell I want anything to do with you buddy I am outta here

but ..what if you were already dating.. what if you were exclusively seeing each other and you have already been intimate or were thinking about it and this beast rears it's ugly head...a lasting reminder of an old relationship before you ever came along

do you cut and run? by this time, feelings are involved for both

OK, yeah, that's a good reminder that we don't know the 'backstory' behind how she acquired the STD. It certainly wouldn't be surprising to hear that a former partner "pulled a Charlie Sheen" on her/had sex with her & never told her she was in danger... mad noway

Pretty crappy situation, it sounds like... sad2

I found myself thinking about this thread today, & it occurred to me that maybe some things are supposed to happen - and maybe it's just arrogance to think that, even if we could go back in time with the knowledge that we now have, we could make a difference in those events.

I don't have an answer for that, but it got me to thinking...
