No one is perfect... Some people just can't say they're not interested and they avoid it... It may not be 'grown up' per se but sometimes the truth may hurt more than no knowing.... and the times I've told someone I didn't think we were a match they freaked out on me and called me every name in the book and one even had his friends stalk me as well sooooooooooooooo sometimes being completely open isn't always accepted with open and appreciating arms...

True, some folks just don't know how to deliver negative news. I'm sorry, that person might have read number 6 on my how to write a good email to the ladies and didn't understand sarcasm.

"6. If someone does not reply to an email that is like them granting you permission to continually email them with vitriolic diatribe. If they didn't want to email you when you were being pleasant, they'll certainly change their tune when you call them lesbos and hookers. Show them your mature side, and by mature I obviously mean use a lot of graphic adult language."

Why do girls give out fake phone numbers, I'm just trying to get a date and 30 minutes later Papa John is at my door asking for 20 bucks WTF.

someone told me the story of the dude that called his girl, said he was arrested, she paid for a cab to bring him home, she was all apologies about him being arrested....but...the dude told the cab driver he had been with another girl the prior evening and told the "i got arrested story" to stay out of hot water...

how did anyone ever find out what he told the cab driver, is this one of those urban legend stories, cause if so, a few yeti's and maybe a chupacabra would make it more interesting.

But yes it's irritating when people say they're going to do something and then don't.

A very sweet young girl wants to find an interracial site. Do you know of any quality ones that I can tell her about? I feel like a mother and want to protect her but you can't with this online thing.

Thanks, guys!

Most sites let you search by race. There's this one of course, but also match which probably has a lot more people within your location or yahoo personals. But you need to pay money for those.

You know that their first choice was the Dunkin Donuts but management was afraid they scare off all the pot heads.

Instead of catching people at a chicken joint, why not just wait in bar parking lots and catch the stumblers trying to get into their cars?

that would be public intox not drunk driving and could be considered entrapment

True on point one but I don't see how it's entrapment, the cops aren't making the person do something illegal, if an undercover cop was giving the guy a drink and then asking the guy to drive him home that'd be entrapment.

So maybe they just wait for the guy to start the engine and start leaving. The person might kill someone going to the chicken joint from the bar, I'd rather drunk drivers get taken off the road before they have a chance to get their cars up to killing speed.

I wonder how many americans would get mad if the French were constantly telling us that they won our revolutionary war?

It's like if you saw some guy getting beat up by a bully and you beat the bully up. The guy will probably be grateful and like you quite a bit, they'll think your a great person, maybe you become friends and hang out. Then you remind the person for the next 60 years that you saved their ass...at some point it'll get old and the guy will simply hate you.

The difference between arrogance and confidence is the same in this regard as it is when talking about people. An arrogant person talks about all the great things he did, a confident person lets others talk about all the great things he did.

Obama's comments, are more for diplomacy than anything else. You don't gain cooperation from people by telling them or making them feel like you think you're superior to them. I think his words were more to mend the damage that Bush did to America's reputation in the world.

I think arrogance is when you laud the things you did right while making excuses and not taking responsibility for the things you did wrong.

Arrogance would be the US taking sole credit for winning WW2 or saying that Europe should be so grateful to us without acknowledging that maybe those other countries lost lives and sacrificed as well. It would be arrogant to think we went over there to save Europe when we did not enter the battle until Pearl Harbor. It'd be to forget the many many sacrifices of the Russians without whom, the war would not be won, they lost at least 20 million people (nearly 10 million military) all told they lost nearly 14% of their total population. By comparison we lost .32%. We should be proud of what we did, but not forget that others also fought and died.

There are both arrogant and humble americans, as is the case in any other country.

Hope you didn't put any money on the fights happy

I can't believe what an ass Mirko is though.

http://www.vancouversun.com/entertainment/Mirko+Filipovic+renegs+verbal+agreement+after+tainted+loss/1694210/story.html
Can't believe he's that scared of Al-Turk. Any fighter with any honor would want the rematch just to prove he can beat the guy without an accidental thumb to the eye.

I'll just post a link to results in case people tivo'd the fight and don't want spoilers

Valesquez didn't look too good on his feet though, Kongo looked worse on the ground. There's too big a weight range for HW division, 205-265? At 240 it'll be tough to drop to 205 but he's not going to be big enough to fight Lesnar.

I would agree with your statements if everybody started at the same starting point. Nobody was complaining when there were quotas applied for white women going to college. They used to not have the opportunities for college and were passed over for executive positions (they still are). Now women finish college at a higher rate then men and they still don't make up an equal percentage of execs.

Again, if the percentage of the population that is black is 18% then why isn't 18% of white collar jobs filled by black people, why aren't 18% of college grads black? Either you're saying they can't do it, or there are social factors.

Blatant racism like lynch mobs and buring crosses on lawns is now illegal and for the most part very unpopular but the insidious effects of past racism still permeates through a generational effect.

Chris Rock said it best "no white guy wants to be me and I'm rich". The only way for someone white to really feel what racism feels like is to go to jail. I'm not saying people even do it on purpose there is a subconscious component.

People who are viewed more attractive will get a job over someone less (there are studies on this) even if their skill set is equivalent. White bosses are more likely to select white candidates for jobs even when they don't consider themselves racist (people subconsciously prefer people who look more like them), black bosses do the same...but the vast majority of bosses are white because there was a time in our history when we didn't allow them to attend college.

There are 117 colleges in D1 football. 46% of the athletes are black. There are 4 black head coaches. SO blacks can run and catch and play the game, but they can't do the stuff that requires more brains? Before the Rooney Rule, the NFL used to be just as bad but guess, what, once they were at least given an opportunity to get an interview and the numbers rose and they were more successful.

You may have your observations, but the real world numbers simply don't show them to be true.

Our inner cities are failing day after day because of all the "Programs" to improve the lives of the citizens, so if you do the same things to the nation that they are doing in the cities, what are you going to expect?? Failure on a national scale!

If this were true then wouldn't Canada and all those socialist European Countries have high crime rates, especially homicide rates too, since they have more "entitlement" programs? And they don't, they tend to have much lower homicide rates than the US.

But if you look at countries around the world the more homogeneous populations tend to have lower homicide rates. It probably also has to due with the historical context of a country. Japan has a very low crime rate. Part of this is because they view a dishonorable act by one person to be dishonorable to the country and especially to their family name. They do not value individuality the same as americans do. That in itself is a very socialist mentality.

Most of the crime in inner cities is committed by black americans so to understand it, we have to look at their history. Some cite the fact that black americans in previous years committed fewer crimes than in more recent ones as evidence that it is the fault of the entitlement programs. What they discount is that they had to walk on egg shells in the past just to survive and not get lynched up or beaten down. I doubt ending these programs would really reduce rates (and may increase the rate of violence), there a resentment that lies there, which is understandable considering how relatively recent the Civil Rights movement occurred. I think people forget just how recent it was that they were segregated into schools (I'll bet those schools weren't as good as the ones white people went to). People without hope for a better future tend to live in a manner where they don't consider consequences of their actions. I don't have the answers but I'm sure that it's more complex than just having welfare.

I believe that the key is to truly be an equal society. From a legal sense they have that, as it is illegal to discriminate. But there is a generational poverty and a generational ignorance that continues to cycle. If 18% of our population is black, why isn't 18% of executives, or upper class citizens black? There is also a break down of the family unit that has exacerbated this issue, kids having kids so to speak. So I believe a more important question to ask is how to break the generational poverty and ignorance that afflicts this segment of our population.

You are right thinking that people thinking that the politicians will curb there own power, that will never happen, people must the power of the vote to stop anyone that abuses their power.I am not a fan of government funding of anything, because that means more money out of my pocket, since I do pay federal taxes.. If research companies what money, they should raise it or sell their product like any other business..our government spends tons of money on stupid things, and we continue to vote the idiots into office..

It's academic research. We don't produce a product to sell, we write science papers, some academics work with a particular drug but usually they research pathways of cancer and things like that and then others use that research to produce therapies and medications. It's very dangerous to simply have companies with a profit motive doing all their own research.

Drugs that are invented have only a small window to produce profit until others are allowed to produce the generic version at a savings to the consumer. So what some unscrupulous people have done, is produce shoddy research with some new drug they say is better, when all they did was make a minor change with no real physiological difference. Merck and Schering Plough recently got into trouble over falsifying data about their "new" cholesterol drug.

ohhh, why you people don't realize that NOTHING happened ever since the election?

Obama is no more than Bush. Same sh1t, different face.

There is absolutely NOTHING changed...matter as well kept Bush for another for 4 years... Obama, he has deceived you.

You Obama haters don't see how he is doing the same crap that Bush would do..

while you Obama lovers won't see how he hasn't done a damn thing, beside talking about himself, while everything is the same. A 100 day passed and not a damn thing changed.

If there's no difference, then there really shouldn't be any complaints from you or any other conservative.

Just don't mix me with the rest...I'm real conservative and I don't like what Bush did in the past 8 years either.

All Obama did so far is to hook up a bunch of banksters (gangsters) to have fun playing golf from the bailout money, trying to regulate everything down to the color of our underwear, instead of bringing the troops home he sends them to Afghanistan for who knows how long.
I can't think of a single thing that got better with Obama. Unless I'm missing something, everything is just like it was before with more laws and regulations against free trade, more restrictions , more taxes , higher gas prices.

He had always said he was going to focus on Afghanistan. His opinion was that we were wasting resources in Iraq and that the soldiers were sent in without clear objectives and that it was the wrong war to fight.

As for the job loss, it depends on who's research one agrees with. There are some experts who say that it has saved a lot of jobs and some say the job loss would've slowed down regardless, and others who say more needs to be spent faster in order to do good. This is the very reason arguing politics is really just a futile exercise, all the stats and polls can be interpreted in many ways, and the studies/reports one believes are the ones that agree with their personal opinions.

Bush did do some damaging things in regards to NIH grant funding, and since I work in the science field doing molecular biology research I wasn't a big fan. Obama is much more willing to fund science research. Before Bush, grants were being funded at about a 30% rate towards the end of his administration it dipped into single figures.

I understand and respect the real conservative positions on some things but the expectation that those in power are going to limit their own power? It's weird, they speak of all the great things about the capitalist system (and correctly so a lot of the time) but the capitalist system works on greed, everyone out to get theirs. So this line of logic seems so contrary to the conservative position of voting people into power who are going to abdicate that power. Liberals also have some weird logic going on, but a post about all this would probably be too long.

Yesterday I got on the train to go home after work. It stops at a station and people are getting on. The first person on is a blind guy who's obviously blind since he's using the cane to feel his surroundings. He asks "is this seat open?" pointing to the first seat on the train. The lady sitting there pipes up "hold on a sec, I'll move over". He answers "just help me find the first open seat".

She POINTS and says over there. He asks "over where". She points again and says "over there" in a louder more exasperated voice.

Some people.
