so where is the line drawn to not offend anyone???? even ring around the rosey is actually morbid knowing what the song/game is about. it's about the plaugue. ashes ashes we all fall down is about dying from it

Don't kids nowadays have songs of their own? Some of the old ones were cute but you would think they might have had new ones over time, no?

do you know how it's been since i was a kid??? my son is 18 now....so i don't know what they have lol

i know the "oldies but goodies" are still done.

when my son was young...it was Barney and Sherry Lewis....i would have rather stuck to ring around the rosey lol

I don't know what they are either, but I guess I would have assumed they had changed by now.

boo...what is the saying about assuming???? laugh

sad thing is....people won't even agree on all or nothing....so how can anyone draw a line to make all happy? can't be done. and if the line is drawn in chalk...it can be washed away and redrawn somewhere else

I keep saying how easy it is. Leave religion out of school and in the homes and churches where the parents do have the control. Simple, that way every parent has the control of what their child is influenced by. Seems pretty simple to me.

What is not simple about my solution is that one religion will demand that that never happen. Hell maybe a few religions will demand it not happen, but again it's suppose to be public school right? Or have we been talking about a private school all this time?

Not sure what you mean about the chalk thing...

I love how all over American in every school and in every government building they say over and over we have to have diversity. We have to hold hands and sing "we are the world" because we have to have diversity.Yet when it comes to just a little bit of diversity involving the Christians out comes the lawsuits. You ever stop to think that many times the songs that are picked to be sung are picked by the students because they like that song? Are we such a stuck up society now that the thought, mention,or learning of any religion is banned? Is this the way our children should be taught?Learn about history but leave what is most important in billions of peoples lives out to the pasture? Are we supposed to teach children about the holocaust and not mention that they were Jewish people because the Jews believed in God?Are we supposed to edit how Hitler wanted the Jews destroyed because of their beliefs.Even if we do teach this to our children will they even know what a Jew is and what he believes? How do we teach children about wars between the Muslims and other nations and edit any religious aspects because the kids might be offended.

I also don't remember reading in the article how any of the children felt offended by this song.It is always the parents looking for a excuse to get a easy payday. Is this what this country is coming to?Everytime a teacher offends a child the parents have to sue?I sure feel sorry for these children when they leave mommy and daddy and learn what the real world is all about.

This nonsense has got to stop.If you want to sue over a stupid song then you can pay for it yourself! And when you loose you can also pay the lawyers fees for the public school system.

I hope I offend the two parents of these children by telling them they are a bunch of complete morons who are going to waste millions in tax payers dollars because they can't seem to accept that they can't always have it their way. They need a swift kick in the butt and smack in the face of reality. So what if they sang a song about angels? Are you going to be permantley scarred by this incident? Are you going to need drugs and years of counseling to get over this traumatizing event? Are you going to loose your job and feel suicidal because a bunch of kids sang about angels? If I was a child in school and a bunch of Jews wanted to sing a song that was important to them would I give a rats ass?Certianly not.I would choose not to sing it.However if they wanted to sing Jewish religious songs for the whole hour and nothing I wanted to sing then I might complain.

and it don't exist

I am getting confused now, was this really about being offended or parents not wanting their child influence by anothers religious views or songs? Or are we accusing them of just being offended or what?

I agree that we can't always avoided being offended, but we should have a way avoid having our kids indoctrinated into someone elses religion. I always thought that was what public school was about, maybe I am mistaken?

that's the problem

if you remove all influences of other people's religions then you're restricting their religious freedom

were it me I would just teach my kids that these'uns believe in that and those'uns believe in those and we'uns believe in this and everyone gets to believe in what they believe

IMO...it's offensive to a belief not their own. I think that it is offensive to them because they feel it's an indoctrime. thy are one in the same IMO here

make sense???

thought i banned you from making me think
