problem is that everyone seems to think they have a right to a freedom from being offended

and it don't exist

I am getting confused now, was this really about being offended or parents not wanting their child influence by anothers religious views or songs? Or are we accusing them of just being offended or what?

I agree that we can't always avoided being offended, but we should have a way avoid having our kids indoctrinated into someone elses religion. I always thought that was what public school was about, maybe I am mistaken?

that's the problem

if you remove all influences of other people's religions then you're restricting their religious freedom

were it me I would just teach my kids that these'uns believe in that and those'uns believe in those and we'uns believe in this and everyone gets to believe in what they believe

seems pretty simple to me drinks

it would be but then you have "anti-Christians" and "anti-Muslims" and "anti-Jews" and "anti-Atheists"

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn't know what to do;
She gave them some broth without any bread;
Then whipped them all soundly and put them to bed

not only child abuse...but why did she have so many?? where are the dads??? does she get child support???? it's not the kids fault she had so many....so why punish them with no bread

How is it restricting ones beliefs if you can practice it at home and in churches and special events? How many places do we need?

Seriously, Quite, I am really trying to understand this. I mean there are already places you would never think to practice ones faith. In a movie theater, a restaurant, etc etc etc. But for the sake of not restricting someones religion, we have to be able to practice it everywhere?

Well actually that would be fine if everyone's faith rituals lasted a moment in silence, but that isn't the case so we can't honor every religion out there in one place either.

The time will come when every religion and non is going to want a chunk of time in schools to do their own rituals, I can't imagine them having much time for much else. But if kept in the proper place no one is expected to expose their children to someone else's beliefs.

Why is that so unacceptable, I just can't understand it, so help...

As with many nursery rhymes attempts have been made to find origins and meanings for the rhyme. These include:

A description of the medieval 'Great' or 'Old Custom' wool tax of 1275, which survived until the fifteenth century.[1] Contrary to some commentaries, this tax did not involve the collection of one third to the king, and one third to the church, but a less punitive sum of 6s 8d to the Crown per sack, about 5 per cent of the value.[2] This theory also depends on the rhyme surviving unrecorded and even unmentioned in extant texts for hundreds of years.
A connection to the slave trade. This explanation was advanced during debates over political correctness and the use and reform of nursery rhymes in the 1980s, but scholars agree that it has no basis in fact.[3]

also mary had a little lamb can be meant as a religious song too

boo actually the moment of silence is for prayers to anything or just a moment to take a breath before the beginning of the day

as far as prayers outside the home...let's say something happens at school and a students feels the need to pray (not out loud or anything) but if something happened to a student and the child wants to pray for them to themselves...how is this a problem?

some religions require them to ALWAYS be worshipping. I don't feel that anyone gets to pick and choose for them when or where is appropriate.

a lot of it I don't get either, but we either have complete religious freedom or we don't.

Someone will find this to be of a religious nature.
