I choose mine before, I'd like it to be a total complete surprise. Of course, my girlfriend will know what I want and they will offer to go with him shopping!

 I picked mine out....with my future MOTHER IN LAW!  We had this appt to see a jeweler. My husband had to work late so my Mother in law and I went and met him. I picked three loose diamonds that she took home with her for him to make the final selection.

I think it would be fun to look at rings...that way it would give the guy a chance to know my likes and dislikes. So when it comes time to actually buying an engagement ring, he "should" present the perfect ring to me.

B/ if it is supposed to be a surprise like hiring a plane with a banner that says "Will You Marry Me (name) and have the plane drop the ring with a balloon over a NFL game!
