Talking to an 'x' and hearing his distorted version got me so mad that I have finally blocked him...

So here is my question, why do I feel the need to keep x's around...well I know why - since loosing hubby - feel that people are not expendable - BUT really I need to grow up and be able to cut my losses....

People are expendable. Especially if they are exes. So quit talking to your exes if it gets you that upset.

Stop letting them rent space in your head.

Thank you, thank you! I really tried not to dispose of him - I really don't find each other replaceable or disposable....I have tried in this case and for my own self, it was best to be done.

Everybody has their "version" and we can never change their "version" so it is wasted time to try.

I always just say " that is sure not the way I remember it" and leave it at that.

People aren't expendable, nor are feelings. Sometimes, however, it's best to cut your losses and run when those people who aren't expendable, push those buttons they shouldn't. Setting appropriate boundaries with ex's also help, as I well learned recently, in spite of her being glad we could still be friends.

For future reference, never make a romantic statement about a current love interest in such a way as ex has never heard it before.

ex: "So how are things going with D?????"
Me: "She owns my heart"

Yea, it pretty much went downhill from there.

A lot of times people tend to keep in touch with ex's due to they have not found the closer they need to move on. Give it time and find the closer you need in order to move on and leave the ex's in the past.

I am so mad right now, I just punched a hole in the wall and probably broke some bones in my hand

Thanks again all! I am much better this morning and know I made the right choice...wish I could warn his girlfriend but know better and won't! Just a sort of 'protect our own' kind of desire. I know he is going to hurt her too, this guy should be on a list of losers somewhere!!! OK, thanks again!
