Well, no lie, yesterday a friend's house caught on fire right in front of us and I as well as other friends of mine helped fight it back until the fire department arrived and put it out. My friend's house was done good. It was a freak accident involving a surge protection power strip and a computer that sat on it. The computer's weight managed to cause a short and the house went up in flames. We saved his cat and some of his stuff but the rest of his life was trashed. No one was hurt thankfully! It really sucked for all of us. Several of us helped him sift through the wreckage the rest of the day yesterday. What a Christmas Eve huh???

And to think back on 2009...

Makes me thank God and good fortune that I have what little I got right now.

I will go into 2010 only knowing that if i work hard and face adversity stoically thing might just get better!

Party on all!

First, that's horrible what happened. I'm glad everyone is ok.

Second, yes throw this year in the incinerator. I never want to see it again.

Third, I would gladly take a house fire in exchange for what has happened to me this year. It's hard to explain, but it's been a really bad year.

2009 wasn't that much different from any other year and considering the projections of the economy from last year, next year is supposed to be worse. So I will consider how bad this year may or may not be after I see how bad it is going to get this coming year.

Lost both parents this year, as well as watching numerous friends beings let go due to various rounds of workforce reduction. I'm moving to another state since job was eliminated and new one is there.

However, I am very optimistic for 2010. flowerforyou

One was expected and one wasn't. It was hard, but I thought it would be harder - it is hard to put into words. The event isn't what hurt but not being able to ask them for advice is what does. Thank you for the kind words.

You have a wonderful attitude about the new year though.

I have to - my mother was an optimist, and it's genetic. flowerforyou

Hopefully they can see this as an opportunity to a bigger and better future, rather than as a lose. It sounds like the things that truely matter were saved. And, now they know their true freinds, and that bond is stronger.

On a personal level 2009 has actually been the best year for me since 2006. I'm looking forward to 2010. I have a great job with wonderful people who are doing exciting things for our town and community!

Even though at times 2009 have not been all that great there is still light at the end of the tunnel.... I have dreams for 2010 and hopefully they will all come true....

May each and everyone's dreams come true and the New Year bring you all you ever dreamed of...

It's almost a comfort to know that I ain't the only one down in the dumps.

But, bad times pass. Tommorrow holds the possibility of being a better day.

Yes this year sucked. But, at least I got to share some laughs and smiles with my Mingle friends.

Well, the 4bars is kicking in. Hopefully I just sleep through to next year.

Chin up guys.

This year was terrible, but not as terrible as it was for others though..I always compare my situation to others. I could have been somewhere else in a lot worse conditions.

I see clouds gathering on the horizon for 2010. Not necessarily a bad thing, it's more like a cleansing rain that will bring some fresh air.

p.s. - bookmark my response here and come back in about 7 months. Then worship me as a prophet.

Ok, since no one else has said it, I will.

I feel sorry when accidents happen, but I have a hard time feeling sorry for stupid.

He had the computer sitting *ON* the power strip.
slaphead

Bet he doesn't do that again.

In his next home, You might suggest that he not put the electric heater next to the curtains either.

Actually LA BOMB Squad came and did an investigation of their own. It turns out the likely culprit was...

Get this,

A plug in Air freshener!!!!

Turns out that LA County fire and LAPD suspect these little items for starting a startlingly large number of fires. My friend had a couple in his house.

Glade burned his house down...

Airwick left him homeless...

The cost of a fresh smell to his house was way to high...

He was lucky he didn't die...

so much for putting your best foot foreword huh???
