I am not very religious but everybody sins. Seems to be just an overblown term for making a mistake. Nobody is perfect......smokin

That is true ONLY if you are defining "sin" as "making a mistake."

That Is not the definition of sin according to the religious community that owns the term.

The definition of 'sin' is disobedience to the almighty Lord thy God.

If you are not religious, sin does not apply to you. You are not obligated to obey the All Mighty Lord unless you claim to follow him and expect to go to his heaven.

sorta yes sorta no........ denying the lord thy God is the only unforgivable sin. So all other sins you make are pretty much pointless anyways if one continues on the denying the lord cause there is only one fate for that.

If there were any proof that God existed or proof that Jesus was God no one would deny it.

Therefor, the only thing a person is denying is the unproven lies perpetrated by the religious authorities upon the people.

They found it necessary to threaten people into believing their lies with the penalty of death.

For if denying their claims is translated as "denying their God" and denying their God is translated as "sin" and "sin" is punished by "death" (The wages of sin is death) then they are practicing extortion and spreading fear. To be a spreader of fear is to be a terrorist.

Therefore, logic proves that the religious authority, including the Pope himself are terrorists.

Truly,

In fact, by definition, it's impossible to sin by "Mistake".

If the definition of "sin" is willful and knowing disobedience of God, you can hardly do that by mistake. Because if it was a mistake, then it was neither willful nor knowing. laugh

You can only sin on PURPOSE. By definition. Assuming that you accept that sin is "willful and knowing disobedience of God".

again not exactly, you don't understand what death is. Death is not our mortal bodies passing away, death is not recieving the gift of heaven.

The wages of sin is death

for instance could say
======================
The wages of sin is being denied heaven.

I already want to see him arrested for covering up, and continuing to shelter the priests involved in the sex scandal. I have no problem adding terrorist to the charges.

No Cowboy, you're twisting the definition of death to your own mythical, superstitious definition. The definition amongst the real world, is loss of physical life... no ghosts... no fairies.

Churches have turn into a tax free business. Who wouldn't want part of that. I am old enough to remember to remember the small churches helping the less fortunate. I am sure it still happens probably out in the country. Not nearly enough........smokin

i'll agree there are no ghosts or fairies. But death is not receiving the gift of heaven, for if one receives the gift of heaven they shall live for eternity.

Well, there you go. Based on this, then I cannot be "saved" because I've committed this "sin". I deny that Yahweh is God, and I deny that Jesus is the Son of Yahweh.

So supposedly these our "unforgivable" sins. Therefore I cannot be saved. I'm no longer eligble under the rules.

But very few Christians will go along with that one. Most Christians believe that EVERYONE can be saved (in spite of the fact that the bible says differnetly)

In fact, doesnt' that make them guilty of rejecting God's word too? laugh

Yes but you have not reached judgement, so there is time for you to accept the lord thy God. Time only runs out to accept Jesus when you have passed away on this earth and are face to face with Jesus himself.

you don't have to be a member of a church, being a member of a church doesn't make anyone better or worse. Being a member of a church has absolutely nothing to do with this.

dude, you do realize we're having church right here. Church is nothing more then when two people are gathered in the lords name, it's not a building or anything. We are gathered in the lords name in reference to that's what we're conversing about.

It is only unforgivable because the person you might be trying to forgive does not acknowledge your belief system or your God hence does not acknowledge sin at all.

If you deny "sin" it becomes a meaningless term and being forgiven for it is a moot point.

Even outside of religion or the church, a person cannot truly "be forgiven" if they are not aware of their wrong doing, so forgiveness itself is something that the forgiver does in order to free them self from their own feelings of hatred and the need for revenge.

An ignorant unaware person who transgresses against others with no remorse may not himself require forgiveness by those he hurt, but the people he hurt may forgive him anyway -taking into account his ignorance,-just so they can be free of the attachment of hatred towards him.

Hatred is like a poison that destroys the vessel in which it is housed. Forgiving the ignorant and wicked is not done for the ignorant and wicked, it is done by the victims for their own peace of mind, and so that they can move beyond that attachment and rise above it.
