This may seem like an obvious question but I was just wondering about it recently...

Is it safe to say that the vast majority of people, not only on this site, but in life, have had their heart broken severely by someone they love at least once in their life?

I don't know. I guess people who have had their heart broken you like to think so though.

I haven't had my heart broken, bruised perhaps, but not broken.

Yepidy yip, Ive had mine broken a few times in my teens and early twenties. Worst one is current after 20yrs of being together, its been broken and trod on, I'm still struggling to find the other half, let alone a glue that will hold. Totally sucks as "trust" went out the door with it. I kinda liked goofball73 solution, but then Id be just as bad as her, plus what would I tell my kids. lol.

oh people feel things deeply and emotionally.
it is a part of being human. a big part.

it is a matter of emotional intelligence that
our disappointments are overcome and new loves
in expanding capacities are reborn.

as we learn - some of us earlier in life and
others a little later - we gradually lose some
of the intensity of an emotional loss. why?
because we have the experience of knowing how
intense a new love can be and how pain fades.

in this sense being heartbroken is a natural
part of emotional learning. nothing to trifle
with but also just an education.

once the lesson is learned then one never feels
the same intensity again. because we understand
hope and have many loves.

I think you can find love anywhere if you look hard enough.......and the reverse is never far behind in some form........but without hopee of finding out who and what you want to be and someone willing to endure the journey with you and be happy doing it
