I don't feel comfortable being comfortable, which would mean that being uncomfortable is more comfortable because I feel like I have more control over it.

Over-analytical answers to this approach would be appreciated.

You are experiencing the not-uncommon phenomenon known as 'Comfort to', in which your subconscious mind tells you that you really want and need to experence 'Comfort FROM' ... and you will never be happy until you reconcile this seemingly impossible task. It can never be accomplished, tho', because, just as 'Major Major Major' in 'Catch-22' could never be seen when he was in and could only be seen when he was out, 'Comfort FROM' can never be experienced while in the blissful state of 'Comfort to' ... this dichotomy will cause you many sleepless nights and loss of much weight, with accompanying bouts of bulimia and diarrhea in between periods when you will gorge on sumptuous foods and exotic delights of a more 'human' nature. The only time the discomfort will be brought to an end is at that time when the Moon is in Aquarius and the Sun is aligned with Mars - the candy maker, not the planet ... Make the sign of the cross three times, throw two handsful of breadcrumbs over your left shoulder, and draw three 'X's on a red brick tomb located in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. Will that work? No, but it'll take your mind off of it for a while.

Being comfortable is a state of mind, of being somewhat numb. It is actually worse to be comfortable, when there is a lot of discomfort present, so being uncomfortable is the right state of mind, during times when you should be uncomfortable. Your control over it, is keeping yourself uncomfortable because it's not right to be comfortable.

In one sentence, you are responsible man.

Unless of course, you are uncomfortable when you should be comfortable and that would just make you a whiny biatch so choose carefully.

maybe by being comfortable you dont want to feel like you are over confident and sound conceited(when you are not)so by feeling uncomfortable just a bit reminds you that you still have to try.

Maybe when you feel comfortable, you feel like you are stagnating or not being creative. I'm guessing your mind is always in motion and you might construe comfortable as boring. Plus, when striving toward a goal, it's hard to feel comfortable until you've reached it.

I like you just the way you are!!

I prefer being comfortable. I have spent a great deal of time in the last decade or more being uncomfortable and feel that at this point I have earned and deserve "comfortable" - such is my analysis

the only uncomfortable I still yearn for is a lack of comfort in philosphy, thought, surety of an answer. I don't see the craving for intellectual or thought provoking challenge going away

You'll grow out of it and come to realize it's just easier to be comfortable
