And don't forget, everything has to filter through your eyes too.

Perception is reality?

Until reality smacks you in the face, and you open your eyes.

Ya got that right.

Does anyone really ever know... I only believe half of what others tell me or write...... To me actions will show the true person and that can not happen unless you meet them in person and spend time with them...

That is why unless they live within the area so we can spend time together I will not even let it get any farther then that...

I have in the past and it did not work out..... most of the time they were not exactly like I thought they were. Not saying that is how it is with all of them just what I have seen so far... Hell most of them are not the way they describe themselves even if you meet them in person..

It is a gamble you must take but one I'm willing to keep trying till I find the right one for me..... bigsmile

Everything I need to know about sombody I learn from their eyes. Whether it is the twinkle that asks for a kiss or the furowed eyebrows that disagree with what you say, reguardless of the words that come out of somebody's mouth. The eyes tell the true story.

Typed words are a very sterile form of communication. Gauging emotions is nearly impossible, words and commitments are easy to break, and personalities are easy to fake. Which leads to the question; Are the people you talk to on the internet real, or is it a liars paradise?

There is no real answer to the question, because it is a combonation of real people trying to express who they are and how they really feel and people that use it as a way to preend to be somebody they are not. I just wonder where the majority lies.
i agree, thats why i try to jump to at least phone conversation very quickly(the timing and tone of speech tell alot).most people and here balk at even that ,so i would vote the majority are liars or have something to hide

I'm Xerxes.

Noteable quotes from Xerxes (The AI in the System Shock pc game)

"In my talons, I shape clay, crafting life forms as I please. Around me is a burgeoning empire of steel. From my throne room, lines of power careen into the skies of Earth. My whims will become lightning bolts that devastate the mounds of humanity. Out of the chaos, they will run and whimper, praying for me to end their tedious anarchy. I am drunk with this vision. God: the title suits me well."

Eyes are organs that are controlled by muscles; organs have no sense of right and wrong and muscles can be trained, so I would think one would have a more reliable barometer than this.

Perhaps someone’s actions or history?

The question you should be asking yourself is what is controlling the muscles, It is not the liver, stomach, intestine, or most organs that are considered reactionary. the eyes are also reactionary, the real question is what are they responding to?

why should i be asking myself anything? this is your theory.

but for the sake of argument....the brain is controlling the muscles and the brain can and does lie. the brain can and does deceive.

this is why i feel it is better to evaluate over time, not an instant reaction or two.

if the brain lies what tells the truth?

the brain tells the truth as well as lies.. Ultimately it all comes from the brain...

I believe a little differently. Im not a behavioralist, I believe in the quantum theory of the human mind. That thought acts upon the brain, and the brain is reactionary to the finite thought particles that we don't have the technology to ditect yet.

I do think the brain is reactionary to the mind, not the mind itself. To deny man of his better half i feel is a narrow way of looking at things.

YOU can believe whatever you'd like but scientists would prove you wrong and well have for like ever.. The brain is not relative or someone's perception.. If your brain doesn't work then YOU don't work.. I mean really, what is so difficult to understand about that? Unless of course you've done absolutely no reading whatsoever on the brain and how it works.. If that is the case then I can recommend some books or classes for you....

i have been blessed to have a good amount of internet friends....and have been very happy when i met them. though i say this...after time was taken to get to know them.

*shrugs* what you say is true ...internet can only do so much for one who seeks more....who wants more. im sure there are people who are happy writing and emailing.

to each their own right?

cheers

People can lie online just like in real life. Sometimes it's harder to see online. You just have to follow your gut instincts. if something is telling you that something is wrong...maybe you should listen

even in real life....a good liar can hide it and you can't tell by looking into their eyes.
