The ones we make are to much tighter tolerances. Also they don't have the "floating Barrel" assembly. They are not bad weapons! Trust me, where the .223 has superior range the 7.62 has superior hitting power.

And Mossberg makes damn good weapons. The Mariner .12Ga is one of the best dollar for dollar! The M-500 .12Ga is also a damn good field weapon!

My brother is the real gun whore. I am just educated. Gun safety is everything to me and I find younger shooters when introduced to the rules are more conscientious than me at times!

The .30 Carbine is a great weapon. Being a carbine it isn't as punchy as a rifle but you can effectively drop a deer with one! Its bigger than a plinker but smaller than a shoulder bumper!

I fell in love with the FNFAL though. .308 Main Battle Rifle. Pure testosterone. Not QUITE the reach of a 30.06 but damn close! With a 30 round detachable...drool Bad guys beware! Strap on an underslung 203 grenade launcher...pitchfork BRING IT! Plop a wide eye relief red dot on top with at least 4X... I can see you hiding behind that tree!flowers

Now an oddity I was really impressed with was the 7.62 X 54 Lungman rifle. That thing is ART in weapon form. That is a gun you wonder why something so beautiful would be taken into battle. Now granted the 7.62 X 54 isn't quite the punch of a .308 I would revile being down stream of one!

Guns can be a spendy hobby though. I love skeet shooting but my brother makes me look like an armature!

Now some of those trick shooters wielding a six gun? There is one guy I would LOATH to be on the wrong side of the gun with. He is a fat Ol' Texan Cowboy who can unload six from a wheel gun into six different targets in less than 2 seconds. I think his record is 1.5 seconds with six shots on six targets. And he has hit quarters on the fly.

Now the Ruger 10.22, I got one. I can make a can dance with it! That is a fun Rabbit killer!

I know a coupe of owners of the Mosin Nagat. on iron sights I was nailing a five gallon bucket lid 400 yards away with consistency!!!

Another gun whore I knew had a Dragonov. For Eastern Block that was one scary sniper rifle. POWERFUL! And tracers coming out of it were pretty at night.

The Swedish 7mm Mauser likewise is a very respectable bolt action. I found those to be easy to wield and easy to make good groups off of the shoulder at 3 to 400 yard. Not Quite the kick of the Mosin Nagat. The 8mm Mauser rifles appear to be close to the same performance of the Mosin Nagat. Lucky is the bastard that has an all Russian one.

The Czech 37 pistol also deserves honorable mention. It is just a tad more than a 380. It was an Eastern Block police pistol. Compact, accurate, and reliable. Ammo was cheap so taking it target shooting doesn't break your wallet, and in a crisis would hold its own even for being such a small concealable weapon.

My mom's ex bf post father had an old tube magazine Browning Bolt action .32 brush gun that was not good for long range shots ie past 100 yards. It shot like a rainbow. That thing was hell on deer though! In the woods that would be a hunting gun of choice for deer!

Anyone remember the Nylon 66?

Yeah I had a few of the Nylon 66 I liked it OK. It was a chore to load through the back of the stock in a timly manner anyway! I just was looking at the Chinese 7.62X25 (I Beleive) Tokarov pistol I shot one a friend of mine had. Pretty dam fast! My CCW all the time gun is the Inox Berretta Tomcat 32.acp tip up. It shoots great for a little gun.

One thing that scathes me is that they don't teach fire arms safety in High school! Kids should be taught safety and the legal repercussions of ownership. Usually kids we take shooting and so far the youngest was 8, have proven to be just as responsible if not more responsible in many cases. Education would cut down on the problems we have a lot. Fewer kids would be so infatuated and likewise screw up and shoot a fiend on accident. I also think kids would be less hesitant to bring guns to school knowing the cops will shoot them on sight if the cops see them with it in their hand.

There actually is damn good reason to fear mouse guns. There is a book called Hand Gun Stopping power and is a deep and detailed evaluation of pistols by caliber. It was done with the help of the FBI as well as many police agencies and is a forensics tool used by the police and FBI. it was based on actual police and FBI crime data, statistics, and research. The author did not talk about .22 or .177 pistols. he mentioned he was not going to mention the .32 acp but as he was processing his data for the book the .32 acp kept appearing in shootings with a startling amount of one hit "stops." Its concealability made it desirable. But with hot loads it actually had the power to kill people in one shot in more noticeable percentages. So did the .25 acp. Both calibers were grudgingly given their place in the book. With a one hit stop of about 10% these two mouse calibers got their dues.

The .357 was rated 96% for a one hit stop. If you even wing an opponent they are loosing an arm or leg. The .44 mag actually got a lower rating because the power crated an accuracy problem in that sometimes a shooter would miss one or two shots where a shooter with a .357 would nail their target on the first shot. the thing is where these huge guns can make parts of the human body fall off or explode in a blast of red viscera and flesh spatter the mouse guns usually don't make straight wound holes. A shot in the leg can wind up being found in the victim's neck and they die a slow death as they gradually bleed into themselves. .22 are notorious for that.

There is a lot to the mechanics of firepower so many people don't understand. Reloaders will sometimes downgrade a powder charge for target shooting for accuracy. Just because it kicks like a mule doesn't mean you can keep the projectile on target!

Now people talk about shoot outs in the wild west. What most of the people who think they know portray the fights with six guns. Most towns you had to check your iron in with the sheriff if you were not a local. Even then most saloons made you check your iron in anyways. Enter the boot gun and Derringer! If you were not patted down you were still armed even if you did check in your iron. Bar shoot outs that did happen involved Derringers and a few other boot Guns like the Pepper-box. Not six guns! Many people shot were shot in the belly anyways from under the table!

It's idiots like this that shouldn't be allowed to own a weapon. I guarantee I have NEVER and would never pull or show off a weapon when I carry one. Hell, I don't even like people knowing I am carrying and never even talk about it or brag or show off.

AND you never point a weapon at someone unless you are in fear for your safety or the safety of someone else. I don't care if it's loaded, unloaded, safety off, strapped, cemented or what.

So how should we determine who's an idiot? Have you ever lived in a very large city or worked in a position which brought you into daily contact with the public at large?

I don't know what your theory might be, but I don't think half the poeple I meet would qualify beyond 'idiot' for the right to carry a weapon (of any kind).

Heart Attacks kill people too...To Bad we can't ban them. Whomever know's anything at all about firearms...They can't stress enough is safty firsts above anything. I would strongly approve a Mental Tests pre-purchased firearms. It would help a great deal!
