Topic: Being yourself

I quite often read others advice of 'just be yourself' here in the forums.

In theory it is sound advice, but realistically, when people are being 'themselves', they tend to get ripped apart by people for doing that.....tis like watching rabid dogs fighting over a piece of meat at times.

Soooo...are you being yourself on here? OR...are you complying to the masses and only allowing that which is considered 'acceptable behaviour'?

I'm myself and make my normal blunders on here and get ripped for it. I try not to do that to others though. Just really am an easy going guy.

That is such a good question.

I was always puzzled on how I might "be myself" when I have multiple personalities.

Decisions decisions.... which one shall I be?

I am always true to "myself" whom ever I am at the time and in the moment.

And yet I don't always agree with myself.

In fact I have completely different opinions about some things.

But today, I am the Valley girl.

Shallow, materialistic, self involved, fun loving, clueless, naive, and care free. I don't worry about anything.

It's always wise to be yourself. If you pretend to be someone else, how long could you keep the masquerade going, before the real you comes out?

As for your question on am I being honest on here? Yes I am. Whether or not it will lead to a future with someone, what will be will be, but whenever meeting someone, please do be yourself. If that person don't like the "real you" someone else will appreciate what you have to offer.

Good luck to you!

This is so true. How can you love a person if you don't know who they really are?

I am always only myself.

I do not care what anyone else thinks or does. I get a some few choice messages in my inbox from some people sometimes about a thought here, or a comment there, but nothing I lose any sleep over. Besides, I am usually pretty good I like to think.

Sub question:

Do you ever get the feeling that people hold back in their answers for fear of being crucified?

What could they possibly say to be crucified over though? If no one likes it, it sucks to be them I suppose, but it should not affect me (or whomever). I usually only see the ripping apart comments in the more sensitive threads such as the religious ones, and the political ones, which is to be expected due to people have strong feelings in both. But here, in the general sections most people are pretty civil from what I usually see. If there is a lot of strong feedback, either it is deleted before i see it, just don't notice it, or it goes private between the individual parties. It is like my Jesus in a moon buggy joke I made way back when somewhere... I got all sorts of flack about that... but as far as I remember, most of it was sent privately.

This is where a lot of people get confused with PUA training. In real PUA training, you are told not to be yourself- why? because being yourself is what got you into the situation where you want/need PUA training. The goal is to make you a better person, picking up women is not the goal, more of a side effect.

sub answer: Yes. I don't because I don't care, I'll crucify back.

Answer to sub question:

What's to fear? Either people like you or they don't. Whether it is a meeting for a future relationship or just a friend. Life isn't a popularity contest, and I have been crucified for my opinions on certain topics, but I don't back down when I feel that I am right, but I do apologize when I find out I am wrong.

Life is all about learning, and meeting different people from different cultures, can be a learning experience.

I hold my dark humour back because I would probably be banned lol. As for the rest, what you read is what you get.

Why would you be banned for dark humour? I see really morbid jokes being made all the time.
