This is somewhat confusing, but I need to know the reality of it… what exactly is online dating? Is it really even possible?
I thought dating is going out together to eat, the movies, etc… and if you’re into casual sex, that too… but… I just can’t think of posting on forums, emailing, phone calls, but never meeting face to face as dating… am I wrong? Is there really such a thing, and if so, how do we go about doing it? |

Hi Athena. Mingle and the other dating sites really do work. Check out all
the success stories. Having been here a long time now I have seen it happen over and over. It requires a willingness on the part of the people to meet and go out is all. I met my last two relationships online and dated several more. It is much easier if you are in a larger metropolitan area where at any given time there are an extremely large number of people looking for dates and companionship. Of course all the usual statistics apply. Different dating sited offer different experiences as far as how one goes about finding a suitable partner.... It is interesting to see how they differ. But they all have one thing in common. There are a very large number of people at any given time who are available and actively trying to meet someone compatible for fun and fulfillment and there is plenty for everyone. |

I don't want to meet anyone from my immediate small town area, which leaves me searching farther away, and it's much more difficult to meet face to face if we live hundreds or thousands of miles apart... guess I'll have to forget about love and dating then, and just be happy with having awesome online friends to talk too and post with... |

I, too, am searching bigger cities, rather than my home town. Kept saying to people how I'll only end up moving out of town anyway, due to my town being almost bankrupt. Everything is going out of business around here. Not gonna be worth salt to stay here.

I guess if I were to answer the topic, no, I don't know the first thing about dating. Just a lack of experience, what can I say? Now the online stuff, the emails and forum chatting, I pretty good at that, but in person, I'm kind of a train wreck waiting to happen. Oh, and I'm an absolute master of "saying the wrong thing."

You not wrong,ms Rose....Dating has to do with folks that re in a relationship fixing a time they hang out,eat,drink and stuff....you can't date who you don't know ....online date is just an invented cyber-terminology use to portraying the possibility of folks being in a relationship without meeting each other for once...... I didn't realize it was something you had to know how to do. |

Dating is actually spending time with a person in person. Online dating is just Online friendships. You can not date a person just by being Online.
If you have phone conversations in getting to know one another that way, for a future meeting I would call that a date because often times couples live far distance and are truly interested in one another. But you have to meet inperson for that official date.
