Ya know, there is a vacuum made specifically for pets,
one of those 'wind-tunnel' ones, though I forget the
brand name, have just seen the ads :-)

Hello. I have had a cleaning service nearly thirty years. I prefer Sears Kenmore canister vacuums. Sears is usually running sales. You can buy a good one for about two hundred dollars. They excel at stairs, carpets, bare floors and do great job on pet hair too! They use a bag so the dust and allergens are not flying through the air. A couple of extra pieces of advice include buying a package of allergy filtration bags and get the two year warranty. It's good, cheap insurance "just in case". My old Kenmore canister vacuum is ten years old. I take it to client's homes that don't have a good vacuum. Just now it needs a new hose. So that is my recommendation. PalominoLady in Missouri

I've had a Kenmore canister for over twenty years. And had a golden retriever that dropped hair like a cheap rabbit coat.
The thing still sucks good. And the attachments and adjustable beater brush do a great job on carpets and bare floors.
Had to put on a new hose about two years ago which was costly but that was after over a decade of use. Buying and changing bags is kind of a pain. But bags are available over the web cheap.

So a Kenmore vacuum would be the best investment?

I have two dogs and a cat. I bought a Dyson and just love it.
I also have heard Kenmore's are good but I personally have never owned one.

Hi carole
YOU will love it. I swear by mine too.
No bags, no belts . Had mine for a good three years now and its as good as the day I bought it.
With all my pets it gets a real workout too.

I heard Dyson was just a vacuum with a glorified name and price tag

After having an old canister vacuum forever, my kids bought me a Windtunnel. That's what it's called and it is great!

No bags needed and you can see the dirt and hair etc. go right into the container. So you know it's picking up stuff. The suction is amazing! I just love it!!!

No vacuum really does the job so I bought a Hoover spinscrub50 wet-vac recently and it does a great job of pulling up copious amounts of brown yuck from my supposedly clean vacuumed carpets. Read the reviews at amazon, you can purchase for around $170 at any walmart ..well worth it
