My fear of being judged, used to hold me back. I realized that I have a right to exist. And nobody is that superior. Self-Confidence and hope and determination. I then felt nothing could stop me.

I was a supervisor at a partial hospitalization program, there was a crack addict client who was near death. One day he just disappeared. Three months later, he showed up to thank me. He was clean and sober; well dressed and employed and had a new apartment. I asked what I did that actually helped. He said the most important thing was treating him like an equal and telling him "bros before hos". We have doubts sometimes about what we do- does it make a difference? Is it effective? I take a lot of crap because of my style, but no one can argue with my results.

Everytime I write a recommendation for one of the students in my lab and they come to me so happy because they got the position they wanted. I love to see the young ones moving forward, makes the late nights and long weekends worth it. Then I think, yeah what I do matters.

Thanks. That's real nice of you. I'm kind of over it these days. This was years ago. When I was twenty two, so that's quite far back. Also, someone I was really good friends with, had dissapeared from my life, and it knocked me for six. It was grief mixed with anxiety. When you've known someone for years, and seen them every day, it feels almost wrong that they're not here. But now that me and this friend are talking again, it's helped me feel relieved :)

What made me realize that my life was worth anything. Would be after the 2nd time trying to commit suicide. I figured if I can't end my life and obviously there must've been some sort of divine intervention to make the rope break. Have kinda chalked it up as obviously I wasn't meant to leave the Earth, because my purpose hasn't been fulfilled.

I realized when I came to the point in my life when I needed to change my lifestyle and stop living like a boy and blaming others for my problems and shortcomings and step up to the plate and be a man.

Not sure how I feel about the question, to be honest.
I know all the right things to say in my head, all the positive self reinforcement for doing the right thing in life and feeling secure and comfortable in your own skin.
But at the same time my feelings get programmed by experience and the reactions are too quick to govern. So I've had at times a pretty harsh time and find myself often fighting feelings of worthlessness.
I know all the right thoughts to think, but I'm not god so I can't control my feelings so easily.

eg. after enough good looking women look at you with disinterest, the next time a good looking woman smiles at you, the lightning quick reaction is to look down or look away or think some dismissive thought of her.
And it doesn't matter if you notice it and stop yourself, you can scream inside your own head "NOOO! Don't sink your own boat in life," but by then it's too late. Good looking women don't give second chances, they don't need to.
It's lose-lose, human psychology. Until one day somebody does make a utopic world for everyone, some will always be the losers no matter what they do. That's just how it is, the life you were born into is everything that will control your life and that's that.

My kids my friends and helping others have helped me realize how greatful I am to have my life!! But we seem to sometimes get caught up in life because of break ups or tragedies and forget about the things that are important!! Us!! If we don't take care of us, there isn't enough energy for the important things in life!!! I thank a true friend for opening up my mind and eyes to the world again!!! I truly believe there is earth angels out there to help us through life's journey!!! I see the world through a stained glass beautiful window and it is spectacular!!!

I have a few: The day I realised that I am me, I love me, I accept me - I cannot be perfect for everyone or anyone, I have faults, yes, but I learned to look at the positives that I have e.g: I'm vertically challenged  but diamonds come in small packages; I have a short fuse - but only against stupidity, unfairness and intolerant people/situations; instead of seeing what I didn't have as a person - I looked at what I do have, I asked my closest and furtherest and was surprised at the positive!
Needless to say my daughter put everything into perspective - she rounded off the value of my life, and as she has grown I have realised how much more there is to life than another persons low opinion of me due to their own complexities.
I have also learned to accept a compliment and when someone genuinely says 'hi beautiful - to smile and say thanks instead of questioning it or answering sarcastically.
I appreciate being physically, mental and emotionally able and have learned how so many other people battle daily with things e.g pain, anguish, insecurity that I take for granted. A kind word or gesture goes a long way to those who need it.
