I'm not a newbie here or one of the old guard but why is it people don't put there profession or more detail about themselves on there profile page?
So many are void or "I'll tell you later" , why not now?

Either they're unemployed or hiding from the law or their spouse. Or they're paranoid. Or they're very private people. Or they're too lazy to actually write it out. On another site I'm on, they usually say "Anything you want to know just ask" for every single question.

Which is code word for "I'm too lazy to write anything out, yet I'm extra special enough to demand that you poke and prod me for information, which is my way of drawing you into conversation."

Or that's just how I see it and I'm a very cynical and suspicious person...

Well...
Different people will do different things
To some people, details aren't important to them
They couldn't be bothered to find the time to fill it up
I wouldn't look down on them though
Let's just take them as they are

I think a lot of people are eager to get started on a dating site and then they have to go through all the screens to fill out details, which at that moment is not what they want, they want to get started and look for interesting people!
So they quickly fill out required stuff with BS "ask me later" or "I'll tell you later". Then later comes and they've totally forgotten about it.

And sometimes you can't really see what the site is like until you've registered, so you have to go through the whole shaboodle, only to see if the site is for you or not.

It filters out the gold diggers. Putting a hint of worth is like baiting the sharks.

Mystery Date.....fun game, however I don't think I want to "play" it in real life. I agree with OP...I don't want to guess and I already bore these guys with my questions (and their one-word responses slaphead ). How the heck are ya suppose to get to know someone if they won't give you their info? slaphead spock

Many just don't feel the need to put it all out there but willing to if you ask them in e-mail...

Not everyone is open with their personal info.. Has nothing to do but with the person that is creating the profile..

Only way to find out is ask the person for each have different reasons why they don't divulge their personal information.

Not really a big deal...

why is it people don't put there profession or more detail about themselves on there profile page? So many are void or "I'll tell you later"

Lots of reasons:
- They are signing on via their phone and don't like to type on their phone.

- They are just browsing. They've tried other sites and just want to quickly sign up and see if this site is worth sticking around on, any different than the others, or they just want to look at the pictures.

- They are extremely self conscious or insecure. They don't want to commit to anything. They would rather find someone they want to date, and then try to control the information to be whomever the other person wants them to be, to make themselves more attractive on paper for each situation.

- They have a personal belief that the only important info is their picture, everything else is relatively meaningless. Or that other people don't read the profile anyway so why bother with it.

- They think it will generate more responses so they can get attention, people asking them questions.

- They're paranoid about the NSA.

- They signed up first, and are working on their profile on a word document or whatever, you just happened to view their profile before they pasted it.

Other reasons, that should be enough, pick one.

As for leaving the job area blank or I'll tell you later:
- They have a job where if they put the description then you'll know where they work. They might be worried about stalkers.

- They have no job.

- They have a job rather than a career and are insecure about it.

- They are worried other people will judge them for their job.

- They work for their family or something.

- They live off inheritance.

- It's a cool job but if they put it then a bunch of people might ask them for favors or something inappropriate, like "massage therapist," or, "concert promoter."

- They've had garrulous conversations with people or in their own head about how shallow people are to judge others based on their job or job title.

- They didn't fill out their profile, that requires typing, and the job description field is typed in rather than a drop down box, so it was just ignored like the profile.

That should be enough, feel free to pick one.

The reason(s) may not be adequate for you and your desire to make the world fit, but it works for them.
