How attractive is it to you to see folk online take the piss out of an individual because of their nationality, naivity or whatever?
Is humor at anothers expense OK because you know....it is online?

Actually it annoys the hell out of me when it happens for any reason to someone who isn't hurting anyone, insulting anyone or just asking questions.

I am more concerned about the attitude to the foreigners, like when people make fun of their English or make insulting remarks about their culture.

I find that cruel and unnecessary.

Heck my grammar is so bad... That I don't look at others...
I have said for years my secretaries made me look good. Now that I am mostly retired I look horrible..

I don't think anyone should belittle anyone about anything we haven 't walked a mile or two in their shoes..

So nope not going there..

Now the ones I might take a cheap shot two is the profiles that snag a military pic and use it on here.. That gets me a bit ticked...

My rule of thumb is never say anything about someone you wouldn't be willing to say to the face of a UFC champion.

Exactly it happens here in the forums a lot. Its funny my fella, Haythem had posted in the forums and some of mingles regulars ridiculed his English. Lol he speaks six languages. Excuse him if he has not perfected one of them yet! He never came back to the community and that's a shame because he had a lot to offer. I'm so glad he decided to make a new account and message me though! He's my whole world.

I found myself asking....WHY must be so cruel? Does that make the person doing this... a better, superior person?

I will say something snarky to catfish who don't provide their own tartar sauce. I might even poke fun at a dude who says (in words or in images), "I'm such a stud that you women should send me private messages." However, I will not criticize the English of a person for whom English is a second language.

Attractive? Has nothing to do with "attractive" for me.

But sometimes it's absolutely hilarious.

Especially when it's someone with a fake photo, or they're an obvious scammer, or their question is something like "yo, ware da hot sugar mommacougars at, dont no one like young guys?" and you know they did it via their phone.

Plus there's "naive" and there's "same question asked a million gajillion times, and if they did even the very most basic of search, or maybe not even a search but just looked more closely at the page they were on, they would have found any kind of answer they wanted, and anyone with 1 minute of experience on any type of forum, chat room, email, or comment section knows they aren't asking for information they are asking for a pity party."

Humor is rooted in social/group relationships, social hierarchy, and pecking order.

Joining a forum is the same as joining a new crowd in real life. You got to get the feel of the group, cos there's already a group dynamic going on, and you don't know it yet.

I remember when I joined there was this particular clique and it was horrible. Mostly women, and they jumped down anybody's throat if they felt you attacked one of them. Or if they felt you were more popular/attractive etc. They knocked you on the forums and badmouthed you via PMs.
The one who instigated this, has sort of gone, and I hope she never comes back.

I don't think there is such a clique anymore now, or not that way, thank god for that, it was absolutely horrible!
So yeah, Mingle is a tough crowd, but it could be worse --> it used to be worse, lol

They are standard bullying tactics!
Often you find on a lot of websites,
If you are not one of the in-clique crew
then they will target you and make fun of you

... In effect, Bully You....
