No seriously what is it..lol..
What real purpose does it have.. is it just to keep animal population down.. keep insect life down... I mean nothing really thrives in the winter time.... so what's the point..

I get it. Maybe in the Artic you need the cold weather to freeze the see ice...
But lower than the Northern Alberta border why the heck do we need

The purpose of winter? To keep salt truck drivers employed.

Also, if there was no winter, how could we look forward to spring?
It would be just fall then spring and no in between. Then might as well
no fall then.

so the purpose of winter is so there would be something in between fall and spring.

happy

see young man a long long time ago
the earth fell in love with the sun
and wanted only to bask in her warmth and splendor
alas the earth found out that over time
the animals and plants and humans got jealous
for only half could be near her at one time
while the other half was left in the cold
and so to be fair
the earth learned how to revolve
so that all may share in her loveliness
the end

It keeps the atmosphere from getting too thick.
See, in autumn (Fall) the atmosphere begins to fall.
Winter freezes it and spring lets it melt and start to rise again.
Then in the summer, it gets really thick and sticky again.
Sometimes the atmosphere freezes so thick, you have to shovel it out of your way. You know this is true because you don't have to shovel it in the summer, do you?
The Earth spins. This pushes the thick atmosphere near the poles. That's why you get more snow the closer you get to the poles. Its a convection thing.
That's also why there is no winter at the equator.

Because without winter people wouldn't have needed to invent things like, fireplaces, hot tubs, bear-skin rugs, hot toddies, and weemins dressed in Santa Claus suits.

The purpose of winter is to give plants a rest. If they don't need tending you can enjoy time by the fireplace. Long cozy nights.

Statistics show that most recorded births in Australia
are in the months of March, April May. = Autumn ( Give & Take )

Mind Y'all that in Australia we have winter in June July August.
The opposite what most of the US has.laugh
oops I almost forget...WE HAVE CHRISTMAS IN JULY CELEBRATION/S & PARTIES ALSO laugh

On the other hand, in the US, most recorded births are
also in the months of Autumn ( Give & Take )

Coincidence ??..Not at all

CONCLUSION:whoa

Winter is for snuggling, cuddling, having romantic evenings together,
complimentary appreciation/s gifts and/or dinners, making love,
which in turn makes wifes, partners or girlfriends happy, so on,
but most of all, making babies according to statistics

And that's WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF WINTER FOR
