Wrong forum...
But, i'll play along.

In my portfolio, i have a pic of me
in the Alaskan boonies, holding a
Ruger P90, .45 acp.

I should have also posed, with a 300 pound
halibut.

I don't see why not.
Unless your (yet to find) ideal partner hates fish or fishing.

I don't see why, unless it is your passion, or an amazing holiday snap.

Are stuffed or model fish OK too ?

Were any fish harmed, (or eaten) in the making of the photo ?

Give a man/woman a fish and he'll feed himself for a day, give a man/woman a P90 then that's a different ball game..:)smokin

NOOOOOOO!!!! Instant turn off! I'm gone as soon as I see a guy with a big fish.
Fishing is a man-thing, although there'll be a few exceptions I guess.
But I'm not into fish, to me they're cold, slithering, slippery creatures. I respect all life, that's not it. I do find them scary to see.
I'm a woman, I'm into warm, cuddly animals. No fish, snakes, reptiles etc.

Also, I don't need to see my man holding a huge fish in his hands, the same hands that are going to be on my body. Eeewww...
My last partner was a die-hard fisher. I found it hard to get that thought out of my mind, that he'd been handling these slippery, cold fish with the same hands he was touching me with.

And you know, it really is a man thing, to show of trophies, to have caught the big(gest) fish etc.
That would work well on a site for/with men sharing such passions.
In a way it would be the same if a woman was into cooking and baked a great looking wedding cake and was then using a photo of her and the cake on a dating site.
It wouldn't mean Jack to men as men typically aren't into that sort of thing.

Umm, perhaps you should ask the fish.

I think the dial on the EEWWWW meter possibly goes into the red, for quite a few. Risky.
I wonder if men with cakes on their profile pics would help.

hahahaha no issue, love fish, love knowing HE fishes
and they are always so proud standing there in
their glory ;-)

Now, were I a guy, I might go with the humor angle
and be standing there with a guppy.

I love to fish myself, and, while I can't imagine ever posing with a fish (I hate having my picture taken anyway)...I understand why guys do that..

Not a turn off to me.

But, then..I also love facial hair on guys, which most women (so I hear) hate,
They claim it is "dirty"...I ask if you ever thought Barry Gibb or Eric Clapton back in the day as "dirty".

We're all different, and like different thngs.. waving

If it's beer battered with fries and cole slaw, why not?

As long as it is not a pic of him skinning a deer I'm down with it..Even the shirtless pictures.. I like them toolaugh laugh laugh

What some don't seem to understand most that have pictures of them catching fish that is something they love to do.. So if your not into fishing by-pass them and let the ones that actually would not mind going with them as long as they ask them to join in...

That'd be funny, but if you were a guy you wouldn't do that. Men want to compete and win. Quite differently from competing women. We get nasty, lol, men don't.

The OP asked for opinions so we're giving him that.
The advice might be good, but it's not like people who dislike it are going around mailing the ones with a fish picture to tell them off.

Another thing is, I do get to see the fish, which truly freaks me out. To the point I likely won't ever swim in open waters anymore, hihi. I grew up doing that, knowing there was fish, including pikes. I did, however, not know how effing large these are until my ex -a die-hard fisher- told me.

The only good thing is I know immediately he is a fisher, meaning "No way!" Never again will I get involved with one.

Lol hey I understand... some like it some do not.. many times some try to speak for all...

I grew up fishing, and love it that my grand kids get to go fishing from time to time... Yes I was taught if you want to fish you have to bait your own and take the fish off..

We all have our hobbies and it is great to find those at times that have the same hobbies..

Myself I'm not really into fishing even tho I don't mind going from time to time.

Since I bought a Trike my thing is riding seems sensible to find those that like the same, just not as easy as it seems lol...

Maybe follow the foodies, and have a photo of a big cooked fish on a plate, with garnish and tarter sauce, slice of lemon, bottle of vinegar, bottle of wine, and some chips. Yum.

I have no problem with it, I actually like it. Posting a picture doing something they enjoy and are proud of is a good thing, imo.

I like to fish and have fun guessing what kind of fish they caught... it's a good conversation opener. When I first joined (former username) I had a picture of me holding up a fish I caught. I deleted it due to it being out dated.

The only thing I don't like about fishing is any bait that is wiggly, and cleaning the fish. Other than that I'm pretty good at untangling lines, putting the hook and sinker on the line, catching the fish and getting it off the hook. And cooking it after the man I'm with cleans it. bigsmile

Profile pics with big fish...Yes or no ?,why?,

No. For a couple of reasons. But not like "No, that's a dealbreaker, I'm upset now that they posted that picture!" so much as "no, that picture doesn't mean anything to me or convey any useful information."

1. In many cases they're old pictures done on some trip long ago and going fishing is a rarity they haven't done for years or simply did that one time for someone else. Even if not, I have no idea it's not.

2. Many times people wear hats and sunglasses while fishing so you can't see what they look like.

3. I have no idea why they posted that picture, its importance to them, overall context or motivation. Is it their only picture? Do they like fishing? Do they just like boats and getting outdoors they just happened to go fishing that time? Do they find it ironic that so many other people on the site put up fishing pics so they did it too but don't really care one way or another about the activity?
Are they just insecure and feel they need to post a bunch of pictures to their profile believing it will mean greater "success," so it's ultimately just a filler picture or trying to be competitive with other profiles that have fish pics?

Put those together you get a false idea about the person, and mostly load it up with your own bias. What they look like, what they "really" enjoy, what motivates them, and something to judge (whether you "like" it or not, have in common, etc.), all of which actually retards any dating process.

Discussing it with them is pointless, as they can say anything they want, paint any picture, or what they think you want to hear, and there is no way for you to prove it one way or another.

It even retards the dating process as you build up a biased idea of who you think the other person is without actual experience of them.
You think you are going to be attracted to them enough to date them maybe stick around because they talked online about how much they like fishing and you have that in common, and they painted a magical romantic picture of themselves?

Or more turned off and want to run away because it turns out they're insecure control freaks as they spent the prior 2 weeks in real life micromanaging logistics to go on the trip, blowing off responsibilities, and taking out their frustrations on others until they can get out on the lake and go fishing, and then whine if their fish isn't big enough, or constantly gloat for months after that about their fish? None of which you would have heard about talking to them online and if you asked about they would have gotten bored talking to or being interrogated by you and ghosted?

Online talking, online pictures, don't mean anything.

It's not real until you meet and share experiences. Photos of the past, past experiences, are best used to create depth in whom you already know, not to decide if you want to know someone.

Otherwise it's just masturbating. Mental, emotional.

That's basically what "social sites" are. Sites where people post all sorts of pics of activities and past things. For people who want to play with themselves and pretend they are part of a social network and group, allowing them to escape from reality.

So big fish pic? Means nothing, unless you're not really looking to date and really just want to sit online and jerk yourself mentally and/or emotionally off.

If you really want to date and form a real, healthy, relationship, fish pics mean nothing.
If you're looking to hide from real relationships, preferring to use people for shallow short term gratification, fish pics mean whatever you want them to.
