Chloroquine, the anti-malarial drug, has been reported by several governments as an effective treatment for those with the coronavirus. How does the possibility of paranoia or heart arythmia balance against the possibility of death in your minds?

Thanks Blondey. Let's hope that they make some progress but we all know that it probably won't be in time for this outbreak.

Three months, wowza...
Wish him luck! That's a LONG time!
I do suspect, based on how things went in China, that by that time the worst is over.
China barely gets new cases, so I'm sticking with the 3 months per country/area before it's over its peak.

For us that would mean another 2 months approx. PFff...

From everything I've read, I'd have to agree that two to three months should see the epidemic pass its peak. Fingers crossed for him, it is a reasonable precaution.

I don't understand the recovery numbers I see per country.
We got only 2, Belgium got 204, Germany 180. Shouldn't Germany have a higher number by now? They were one of the first here to have cases.
And Belgium, they had 1 case shortly before we got our first. How is it they already got so many recoveries?

Makes me wonder if everyone is following the same guidelines and tests for recovery, or maybe some country test less for this?
I find it odd.
We always make fun of the Belgians, but their healthcare is generally outstanding. Still weird.

The province asked everyone who doesn't live here to NOT come here (tourist area). How they plan to do this? I still saw German cars in the supermarket's parking lot. A-holes rant
I hope they sort something out before we get another invasion during Easter holiday.
We cannot get into Belgium, nor Belgians into Holland. I do hope they come to some agreement with Germany to keep them there and that there's control on this too.

Today the number of cases on the island has gone up for the first time in at least a week. We now have 8,9.
All surrounding islands and peninsulas are worse, so maybe it'll go up here too. We could stand a chance if people (tourists) would stay away.

I agree totally. Some State Governors have requested that as of 5:00 PM CDT today, that everyone that does not work in the health industry stay home except for shopping for basic needs.

Some hotels -so far mostly in the east of the country that borders with Germany, are closing, and campsites -which is what tens of thousands come here for- are either closed, or partly closed. They cannot offer recreation, and swimming pools, restaurants etc on the camping grounds will be closed too.

I do hope that's enough to keep most tourists, which over here is mostly Germans, away. Sounds very anti-German, but the situation in Germany is really bad.

Not good for the local economy, but people dying isn't either.

The human density is a big part of the problem. That is why the emphasis on keeping a 6' spacing in that the virus generally can't travel that far in a person's saliva or mucous which is the primary transmission method. Additionally there is the issue of the virus being alive on inanimate objects for a period of time such as tables, stair railings, and door handles. All that needs to happen is for you to touch a virus laden surface and then touch your face in the areas of your mouth, nose, or eyes. The community transmission is a much bigger problem where lots of people live in close contact with each other. There are some cases in the rural areas of the country but not many. When you have 2 or 3 cases in 20 square miles, the virus transmission is not very probable!

The South African people are not taking this virus seriously. we have 220 cases in 14 days! we are fast moving to reach Italy stats, if we are not careful.

A friend told me of a science journal article recently traced it's origins, I don't know which one. :
Made/manipulated in America circa 2015, messed with by china a couple years later, animals not dead after lab experiments were sold in the local market for meat, it went viral.

I don't know it it's true, but wouldn't be surprised.
Sneaky 'governments'.

They've done a similar thing here last week as well.

OT ... The island above mine is not doing well... I wouldn't mind if they closed off our island for non-essential traffic. Would be easy to achieve: close off 4 bridges et voila, no one can get in or out. Advantages of an island -which could of course also be a huge disadvantage, hihi.

On this island it's still okayish, light yellow. Island above is orange, some other parts dark orange and a few even dark red.
We have not seen the peak of this yet.

I agree with both points. It would be sensible and enlightened self-interest for the islands to be closed to everything but essential traffic and people and we won't be past the peak for two to three months.
