Up to you. It wouldn't be to me. I also don't get why the baby doesn't have his name.
In any case, for me the answer would be, no way. It would drag his ex's energy right in between me and my man, and that is not acceptable.
If he can't let go of his ex, what is he doing with you?

Feel in your heart what whether this is acceptable to you. I'm guessing not otherwise you wouldn't have asked.
Good luck figuring out what to do now.

Hummm, I'm with the above on this one. Why in the heck would the child not have his last name and why would he want her last name on his arm.. Is he afraid he will not remember his son's last name?

I have seen where guys tattoo their kid's first name on them with birthdate but never just the last name..

But guess that is something that seems it is bothering you or you would not be asking...

My son and his first ex actually tattooed each other's first name on their arms. I came unglued and asked them both WTF were they thinking about... Of course, they split up and my son had to have his covered with another tattoo cause other women do not like another woman's name on their bodies they have to look at all the time..

I'm sure he is using the excuse it is his son's last name. So why not put his first and last name then?

Guess I must ask does he have a family tree tattooed on him?

No. Completely inappropriate. It would be awkward enough if you met him with it on, let alone get one while still with you

Yes the kid's first name would be another thing.

The only reason I can think of that a man would do such a thing is when the mother of the kid keeps him out of their baby's life and does not allow him to give it his name. To spite him for what he's done to her.
And him wanted to get back this way?
But that's all guessing.

No matter what, I'd say have him sort out his chit before you get in further with this man.

why does his son not have his father’s last name ???

sounds like the tattoo is more for his and his son’s benefit than yours ., ..perhaps a show of love and connection .

If you are unhappy about the tattoo then make your feelings known . His ex may be a bigger part of your life than anticipated .. are you ok with that???

Tattoos are superficial. What matters is how secure he makes you feel in his love and your relationship . Best of luck

I would think he is doing it to impress the ex. Who dumped who? Are they great friends or secret lovers, it happens. Seems very suspicious to me.

that is a huge negative on this one because if you ask my opinion I think he has ulterior motive to try and stay in the other womans life to some extent that I am not sure of but if it was me in his shoes then I can guarantee aint nobodys name getting tattooed on my except the female I intend to share life with and maybe a childs first name. but anything to remind me of an ex is not cool at all.

the boy or girls surname will always be the fathers surname, untill they reach the age in which to change it

Wrong.. not in the states if the father is not listed the child will carry the mother's last name..

And if the Mother chose to the child can still carry her last name..

Tattooing a baby? That's not ok. There are reasons children aren't allowed to go out and get tattoos. Let the kid decide what they want on their own body when they grow up.
