Regrets , I have a few ..that I can actually mention....
One time , holding on to a penny stock , it reached a dollar , should have sold , but greed kept me in the game ...... it was only 5000 shares...... but it sunk and so did my investment ..... but learnt a hard lesson ...... get out when you are ahead of the game ! Phew !!!!
We all have a few regrets ..... some are easy to mention, some not so easy ..... life is such ......

Yes I have some regrets , to do with my children .
For the last few months these regrets have been playing on my mind , more so than usual , so much and totally getting me down .
I do have an absolutely amazing relationship with all of my kids . They know they are my world and what they mean to me , and we are all very close .
These are regrets that are eating away at me personally and not at my kids .
I cry often thinking about it ,
I cannot change the past but I don’t know how to get past it and move forward from it and thinking about them just makes me so sad and such a failure as a mom for them times .

I am interested in hearing if people have been able to move on from their regrets and how so

it took me five years to move on from my 25 year relationship.... yes, the kids kept me in the relationship a couple of years past the actual expiry date .... thankfully they grew up and became pretty much independent , just like they were taught to be, and so bailing them out or providing a parachute became a thing of the past , and now they have matured and we have a good relationship ....an adult one at that .....he is 35 And she is 25.... so i was able to move on and start to enjoy my life again
.......the only regret here was not splitting earlier ....

I have no regrets at all.
I have "learning experiences". bigsmile

Some days have sucked pretty hard.
But, overall, it's been a good life.

 Oh moomin being a mum is one of the hardest jobs in the world, and comes with no instructions, guidance or handbook. We try our hardest, but we don’t always get it right. You can’t change or live in the past, but you have a strong bond with your children, so have faith that they love you and move forward together.

Many of us may have regrets and find it difficult to move on, but dwelling on it won’t change the past. My dad always used to quote the serenity prayer to me whenever I told him I had regrets.

GOD
grant me the
SERENITY
to accept the things
I cannot change, the
COURAGE
to change the things
I can, and the
WISDOM
to know the difference.

I am not a religious person, but those three words, ‘serenity’, ‘courage’ and ‘wisdom’ give me the strength to move on from those regrets, even if only for a short time.

Have faith you are a good mum.

Just like Rock I don't know if you can speak of regrets.
I also tend to think of learning experiences.

And I am a firm believer of everything being in Divine Order.
I do also know however that sometimes there are points on our path where we ourselves can choose to go a different direction, or maybe have a shortcut even. The difference between fate and destiny. Kind of like pivotal points.
And I think my accident in 2012 was one such moment.
Another was what happened in kinder garten, first year. Had I reacted differently then my entire life since would've been different. I would've likely gone the same way, but would've skipped decades of struggle and pain.

Do I regret that? Something that happened when I was 4. In a way but not really.
In a sense I DO regret not paying better attention when I put my foot on the effing staircase in 2012. That one did me in good. So yes, I do regret that moment.

My kids are grown ups now & I'm in good terms with my ex too. Which made me often think that maybe I should have stayed.
I have many regrets but I don't dwell on them much now bcos we are responsible for our own actions & the consequences.

But when it comes to children, the guilt is so big it overshadowed everything. Guilt makes we weak, clouded our conscience & we often blame ourselves. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Aaw Moomin.

Everyon says things like you " you shouldn't dwell on the past" etc

For me it helped when I noticed that thinking of some past things would bring down an otherwise cheerful mood within minutes.
things happen on a physiological level neural transmitters and so forth that depress mood.

It became obvious to me that feeling low in the present thinking on the past, was an odd way to approach the future.

Kind of knew it to be true..We've no control over past things.

But it can still affect us, only if we think too long on it.

I sort of take bite size chunks of no more than a minute or 2. that way it doesn't affect mood..

Well, It works for me  Really.. Helps loads..

A few words in the English language I do not say :
Wish, Can’t, regret, and try they are a waste of words.

But I will get real with you, I regret the wish I tried to have granted by this Genie named Can’t.

I've no regrets.

#1 I can't change the past.

#2 I make better decisions/choices.

Yup , based on past mistakes, regrets etc I have learnt from them all . Never dwelling on them for too long , only long enough to find the alternative way and then move past onto a wiser and sometimes better decisions......life goes on ...

I'm confused. You're having regrets for having amazing relationship with your children? And it's eating you up ?
