Topic: What does it take to be happy?

I once had a dream, something I wanted so bad I could taste it. Over the years that dream has changed so many times I can't keep count. Now my dream is simple, I want to be happy. What does it take to be truly happy? I know it's not material things as they are temporary, so the happy is temporary as well. Health? Longevity? Humor? Someone by your side who truly appreciates you for who you are? Someone who will remember you long after you are gone? Yeah I don't know. But I decided to take a journey, feeling monogamy is passe' and knowing perhaps two females in my life would be better. More love to go around, more people to tackle a problem, more than two brains means more cognitive oomph. Is being in a poly-triad the key? I do not know, but I want to find out.

man I was about to wax philosophical with an abundity of profundity....

not sure happiness is the goal here...

more minds is usually just a bigger can of worms, too -especially with relationship issues

I've found more happiness by not following pleasures.

If that makes any sense.

True happiness is not related to anything outside of you, it is an inside thing.
Basically it's about getting into the heartspace, living from the heart. Meaning getting out of the head.
Different ways you can do this. When you're really happy the way your body functions changes. your brain waves change, the brain gets more and more coherent, different genes will get read and activated, different hormones released and so on. Then the heart will also change how it works, it will also get more coherent, chemistry in the heart changes. Brain and heart work together.
It doesn't matter whether you start from the brain, on coherence, or the heart, the result will be the same.

As a result the body will become much stronger, healthier, less prone to disease, immune system will get immensely strong, and diseases you got can heal and disappear. This is actually the way to heal yourself from any disease, regardless of what it is.

When in that state it is impossible to NOT be happy.

I can tell you from experience it is a permanent state, you just feel happy and positive and good and nothing much can get you out of that state. You automatically touch others and they also feel better around you. You will know as you can see them get more lively, smiling more and so on.
Even stranger will greet you, smile at you, regardless of age and even from across the street. Even when they hadn't even seen you, they suddenly look up straight at you as if touched by your energy from the distance. Truly amazing!
It's a gift that you receive and feel in your heart and stimulates your happy state, and your gift to them is a taste of what it's like to feel so good. You brighten everyone's day you come across, even if for a brief moment. That's not your goal, it just happens because of your incredibly high vibration of joy and happiness!

Colours will appear brighter, as if someone pulled a thin veil off the world. Trees, houses, flowers, everything looks brighter, clearer.
It is incredible!
And things will work out for you. You will always find that parking space where and when you need it, traffic will flow easily around you, relationships flow and so on.

But as soon as you go back into that old state of being -which most of the world still lives in- your energy levels may drop and you can lose it.

I lost it after 4 months of non-stop happiness and wonder.
So far I manage to get moments.

Not the answer you were looking for likely. But this is how it works.

Happiness is a state of being and lack of success in searching for your โ€˜happinessโ€™ only brings unhappiness.

You have to be happy within yourself first and foremost and not look to others for it.

Happiness is being grateful for having woke up this morning, and enjoying this privilege of being alive !!

Happiness is something you find within once you feel peace of mind where you are and what you do in life..smile2

It is found by doing what you want within your life not what others say or do..

That is one journey you will have to decide on your own to find out what makes you happy..

What works for one does not always work for others..whoa

But to think a choice will always be a good one is not looking beyond the other issues that choice will bring to your life..spock

One learns in life to take the good times and work through the hard times. There will always be times one will be happy and times they will be sad..

But unless one is happy with themselves they will never truly be happy all the time..

i believe you said was ''what does it take to be happy ???''

''IT TAKES GIVING YOUR SELF PERMISSION TO BE HAPPY'' ITS A CHOICE ONLY WE CAN

MAKE.....HINT; REAL JOY AND HAPPINESS COMES FROM OUR INNER CHILD....P.S. WHEN

YOUR EMOTIONAL ENERGY LEVEL BECOMES LOW, DO SOMETHING THAT WILL PLEASE YOUR

INNER NATURAL CHILD....EVERYONE IS BORN WITH A NATURAL CHILD INSIDE, IT'S THE

MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF ALL OF US.

'xcuse me for laughing laugh But... if you are not happy within yourself how can you expect to make TWO women happy...
To me it sounds like you have some work to do ON yourself, first and foremost.

What does it take to be happy?

Just have a cup of coffee, sit at a comfortable place, while listening to classical music and/or reading a good book..

I find it amusing when people try to make happiness a constant state of being.
Life is a roller coaster of highs, lows and level.
Happiness/joy is the high.
Sadness/despair is the low.
Contentment is the middle ground.

When ya exist in a state of contentment, you experience highs and lows but you return to middle ground when those feelings are no longer strong.
Ya get a feeling of enhanced happiness and sadness is easier to deal with because you know it will not last.

If you try to be happy all the time, the lows still occur but ya get the sense happiness will never return. When things do happen which should make you happy, they are watered down and not as significant.

When you exist in contentment the highs and lows of life have more meaning.

Emotional states are dynamic. They come and go naturally. When ya try to force it, the result is false and inside, ya can sense that. It causes ya stress.

Most times in life are not happy or sad. They're kinda in-between. Life is middle ground if you let it be. The happy and sad feelings add zest to life.
They're not supposed to be constant.

I no longer seek to be happy. I seek contentment and allow my emotional states to rise and fall from there when warranted. I don't try to hang on to those highs and lows but allow them to play out naturally. My inner turmoil is gone.

Seek contentment and allow your feelings to flow naturally.
