I came up with a real nice pressie for Christmas AND my son's B-day (Dec 30).
Then I helped my mom do the same as she didn't know...
And tonight my daughter basically asked for the same...
I never know why, cos my boy has many interests so it's actually very easy to find something for him that he will totally like!

So this year I helped 2 people. Makes me wonder why people find it so difficult to find nice pressies?
I've had partner that told me they didn't know what to get me.
I never understood that one either. They knew me really well, including all the things I take an interest in. Which is a great many things! And then they still don't know??

Are people in general so lacking in tuning in to another person and lack imagination?
I myself only find it difficult to buy something for my daughter as she is really fussy. And I do mean REALLY, hihi.

Since it's pressie time..... How good are you at buying Christmas pressies?
And do you usually receive what you love?

Over the years, Iv'e made it simple......online from Walmart or Amazon, delivered to their doorstep.

Honestly when I buy for my grand kids I have my kids text me with a picture of the item they want.. So I can get it online.. I have no clue what all they want or need so I do it the simple way..

As far me, I told my kids not to buy for me long time ago.. They still give me something from the grand kids and it is always something I will use..

Since my grand kids came around I only buy for them now... after 6 grand kids the kids get left out.. lmao..

That is a way :)
I too order most everything online, from abroad. So I started early to allow for delivery on time even when it gets crazy busy.
But I like to give the pressies myself :)

Oh yes, with grand children I can totally understand! Good thing their parents let you know what to get, haha.
I myself haven't reached the point I don't want pressies, hihi.

I usually have most Christmas
shopping completed by Halloween.
Incidentals after that.

Most shopping I do, is in store
shopping. With some online.

In my family, we stopped exchanging presents many years ago. I find that, as you get older, if you want something, you buy it for yourself.

My favorite thing to receive would be a gift card ( gift certificate back in olden days) to a bookstore.

I have no problems buying myself a Christmas gift.
Bottle of a decent red, a nice chunk of meat, and my holiday is set.

Growing up, we had a gift list, not that we were getting what was on the list. My father always had - an airplane. A boat.

My sister and I always got good presents for each other because we were close and we knew what we both liked.

I only buy for my daughter, her partner, my flatmates, a few friends and Layla our cat.
Right now I am so busy at work I have no time to think about buying Christmas presents.
As my daughter and her partner are spending Christmas with me, I actually found her old Christmas stocking, so I am filling it up with things I know she will love. I think I will get him one too, although I bought him a cool phone already, it is fun to unwrap many little gifts from a stocking.
I have very few days off till I finally get time off on the 24th of December, I am going to have to do a mad dash and shop next week sometime. Fun, I really like shopping and have no problem choosing gifts. My problem is time.

As for what I would like...I have simply asked for art my daughter has done over the year and kawa kawa balm she has made. I try to not make her spend money ar this time of her young life.

My daughters and I each make a wish list. We put the links to the items and all the specifics. I always add a couple additional things not from their lists that I think they’ll like. But we all prefer a general guideline for which presents to buy. It doesn’t make opening them any less fun for us.

If that's what makes you happy, good for you! You gotta take care of yourself :)

If everyone is happy that way, great!
Sometimes it can be nice to get money so you can put it together to buy a more expensive thing, or to get the exact thing you like.

Feels like you love the pressie giving/receiving as much as I do.
I do a similar thing, give more options so they can choose what they like to give, and if need be links with it.
My daughter did the same this year and gave me links to make it easier.
And with several options you still don't know what you're going to get :)

In my case my mom and son have no clue what they're going to get from me. My mom has said for years she doesn't want anything as she already has so much.
I always manage to get her something regardless, hihi. This year it's a larimar pendant as I know she loves mine and that turquoise/aqua colour.

No matter the occasion I give gifts which expand horizons.
Since I only give gifts to people I know, I have no problem deciding on the type of gift I give.

Most of the gifts I give are not 'useful' gifts like appliances or devices.

I pay attention to what brings that inner smile to someone then gift in alignment with that.

I also give gag gifts along with the real gift.
I do creative wrapping, verbal anticipation and I watch intently as they discover the contents.

The gifts I give often expand that person's creativity or interests.

I've given:
Woodburning kits
Rock tumblers/polishers
Telescopes
Bead stringing kits
Art supplies
Microscopes
Musical instruments and supplies
Throwing knives
Camping support/supplies
Sewing supplies and kaboodles
Wood carving knife kits

When I gift someone with something new like that, I include all the components needed to do their first project.

For example a drawing gift will include pastels, colored pencils, markers charcoal pencils, smudges, a couple different weights of drawing pads and fixative. Sometimes I would include a starter book on drawing animals or people or perspectives.
The gag gift would be a small box of those huge crayons and a young kids coloring book (wrapped and given separately).

I've also been known to use strange articles during wrapping to break up the present's wrapping shape.
I once taped a ladle and old fishing reel to the outside of a crystal farm kit. When she opened the gift she laughed because she was 'looking' for that ladle.

I once got my MIL a nice set of comfy slippers.
I wrapped them separately and with different shapes and paper color. On Christmas Eve, I gave her one slipper and on Christmas morning I gave her the other. She got a nice belly laugh out of that.

It doesn't matter what you give.
What matters is you give from your heart to their heart.

Someone who loves to keep candy you could give a starter candy making kit.
Maybe a candy making recipe book and a starter supply of ingredients.

Someone who loves different beers you could gift with a home brewing kit or a collection of beer from around the world.

For a gamer, a nice assortment of game graphic novels might hit the spot. Perhaps a starter set of collectable miniatures with a display shelf.

For a reader, a comfy chair, a reading light, a mug warmer, a woobie or a pillow. A set of collectable book marks or a set of book owner stickers with Customized calligraphy.

For someone who collects wall art of poems or sayings a nice gift would be a quill pen set with different inks or perhaps a calligraphy set including technique books. Maybe include a certificate for framing at the local hobby shop.

If you are gifting someone you don't really know, like a visitor or a co-worker, keep it simple and give a gift which tells them you 'see' them.
Tactful gag gifts work well. Food also works well.
Meat/cheese and crackers, a cookie assortment, stuff like that.

I've given hot sauce assortments, BBQ sauce assortments, hot cocoa assortments w/ mugs and coffee assortments. I've even given starter spice racks.

Personally I stopped wanting presents decades ago.
I'm already gifted with love and friendship which, to me, is far more important and fulfilling.

Merry Christmas!
