Dog w/Tapeworm HELP!

Laughing at the picture of him barking at his food! Once when I was very broke, I had to mix chicken scraps & rice in with my dogs regular food to stretch it. The next time she was faced with a bowl of plain dry food she refused to eat it. She stared at the bowl, then at me & eventually walked away. Later she picked out 1 piece & spit out out on the sfa next to me! Plain as day she was saying, "you don't really expect me to EAT this crap do you?" My roommate& I laughed until we cried! After about 5 hours she got hungry & ate it. Hehee that is so cute. My guy is a little bit of a picky eater when it comes to dog food he will only eat kibbles and bits but if he finds anything non-edible on the floor all bets are off and he will try his best to eat it. I had to stick my fingers in his mouth a couple of times to fish out random things like a bingo ball. I've learned now that nothing on the floor or within his reach is safe. He has also learned to push the button on my printer to make the paper come out so he can reach it and tear it to bits all over the house. What a smart little booger! |

Oh he is adorable! ![]() Please don't take offense, but did you check out the breed before you chose him, or did the cute get to you? The breeder should have educated you a bit. All breeds have thier stregths & weaknesses, A good breeder would help you decide if thier breed suits you. The site I posted has a list of some good points about dauchsunds too. I actually did not pick him out or choose the breed. My StepBrother bought the dog for my StepFather and the dog chose me to be his Mommy. So I am dealing with everything while everyone else who made the decision to purchase him when I wasn't even there gives him an occasional petting. I spoke with the breeder when I first got him about what to feed him and also house breaking him. They initially told me he ate Purina Puppy Chow but after I bought a bag he refused to eat it and would only bark at it and push it out of his bowl. They also told me he was trained to sleep in his crate and he is. When he first came home he didn't use the bathroom in the house for about 2 weeks and then he started pooping behind my Moms bed. Now he stopped pooping inside and has started peeing everywhere just randomly. Maybe I should call the breeder again. Ok I'd start over with the house breaking. Go to the librairy or online & read about crate training & housebreaking. It takes a lot of patience & someone has to be home with the dog a lot. There has to be consistency. I was able to take Olive to work with me most days while I was training her, & I had a nieghbor that would take her out if I had to leave her home. At 5 months maybe he just can't hold it for 8 hours yet. I think Duffy suggested 4 & that sounds reasonable to expect for starters. You should make sure all the carpets & floors are really clean, & He is not out of your sight to have an oppourtunity to have an accident. If he starts sniffing around, take him out. Puppies are a lot of work. |

Nothing can be done. We have a democracy. Majority is educated by government. They won't vote against the government. This why it's important to read & get a well rounded education. My daughter attended public school, but most of her real education came from independant reading. |

I'm surfing about dachshunds. Apparently they are known to be harder to housebreak than most breeds.
"Housebreaking. As a behavioral consultant, I would put the Dachshund on my Top 20 List of "Hard to Housebreak." Consistent crate training is mandatory. Sometimes a doggy door is necessary. And some owners never do get their Dachshunds fully housebroken." http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/dachshunds.html |

Thanks for the advice everyone. The tapeworm has been taken care of and my little guy is in excellent health. Now if I could just get him housebroken. I had no idea daschunds were so stuborn. ![]() My brother has one (daschund), he always thought of the carpet as grass. So he would go on it. When my brother moved, his house has hardwood floors and then the dog started holding it to go outside. It was weird. ![]() Who really knows what goes on in thier little minds? My rat terrier was confused when we were in the desert, she was looking for grass & seemed afraid to pee in the sand. ![]() ![]() Think like a dog eh? ![]() |

Hmmmmmm did the vet check for kidney or bladder problems? Have you asked the breeder about any problems in his bloodlines? I do not know much about what problems are common specifically in dachsunds. A reputable breeder would.

He is crate trained but only to sleep in the crate at night. He has never used the bathroom in his crate and cries when he needs to go out in the morning. He is like my alarm clock. He goes in the house at random times and only pee he never poops in the house anymore. He has even peed in the house right after going out for a walk. I am thinking maybe he is getting tooooo much water. I read online that I should only feed and water him 3 times a day for 15minutes ? Lately he has started peeing in the bed and when he is asleep on peoples lap. Kind of like he is just to lazy or comfortable to get up or let me know he needs to go so he just pees right there and never gets up. Don't with hold water. I'd see a vet he may have a genetic problem, some kind of kidney damage, or an infection. |

I don't want to get married again, everyone who knows me knows that. My next to last proposal was very sudden & in front of others. He could not have planned it, it was following a tramatic event & he very emotional, I told him it was the emotions getting to him & we would dicuss it after things calmed down. I know the witnesses were uncomfortable.

Duffy,
I just learned how to make active links & I saw some very funny videos to share. I made a mistake, double clicked the 1st post in the 1st thread about toilet training & had to ask a mod to delete one. Then once I tried to copy the nose picking address it apparently didn't work & I reposted the 1st address for the toliet training link here. Sorry for the confusion. I am techno-challenged. |

is this thread going to the dogs or what. i saw some fried chicken, then someone said about something about putting toilet seats down, so i said put mayonnaise on the toilet bowl, and then lid will go down. well get some mayo on your twanger or pus, and would u not put the lid down? then, some guy with long hair, questioned our sanity about being in the right thread, that toilet bowls were on another page, and some girl who rocks her socks said something about long hair, and HAH. i think i am missing something here, and dimentia is defintely setting in. it is like the last thread about infidelity, and some sheep in a wolf's clothing, and victim's, so i said what is going on here, and there was no answer. waco or insanity which is it? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Some people perceive caution, calmness,a dislike for drama & violence, thinking before acting & manners as weakness. This brings out the bully in them & they take advantage. Sex dosn't matter. A woman who does this to a man will also do it to another woman. Men do it also.
They question is, why do people find the bullies attractive & keep getting involved with them? |

...that, judging by a lot of the posts round here lately, that women here actually HATE men. I have seen so many " Men are Pigs " and " Why are men cheaters " type threads lately, that it's making me question whether the women here ( not all of you, but an awful lot of you ) really want to find a decent guy, or whether they just want to have some place to piss and moan about how awful we all ( men ) are. People wonder why I am pessimistic about finding someone... Well...it's kinda difficult to have a positive attitude when you keep getting lumped in with all the bad stuff that " men " do. The fact that a dude has a penis automatically sets him up with at least two strikes against him. The chances of being a decent guy and finding someone who will appreciate that is pretty slim in the first place. It's that much more difficult with all of the bitter, screwed over ladies letting everyone know how much " Men Suck ". So much for a dating site avoiding gender bashing. I've noticed this, & I see men posting the same kind of woman hating threads too. |

Is that why we have to read the daily nauseating posts from Madisonman,Warmachine, and Lynann which only find reasons to put America down?Of course we can't possible write a posts that actually says anything possible about America or fighting terrorism. It's always the same depressing, regurgitated, topics that make me want to slice my wrists open.Of course I didn't think you would understand since you are always on their side of their Anti-American propaganda war.. I find this very insulting. It was obviouly intended to insult & cause drama. |
