If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” The above quotation is attributed to Marcus Aurelius, from his "Meditations", although it may be argued that it is a rather loose paraphrasing rather than a strict translation from the original Latin. Nevertheless, I like it and think it makes a lot of sense.
