I think monogamy builds trust and security and is essential.
I could not be in a relationship without these, so I am all for monogamy

flowerforyou good point of view.

Healthy as well.

A person that wants an open relationship, is not looking for love. I want monogamy.

Im for keeping promises

If a promise is made 'forsake all others', or to be exclusive, one should keep it

if no such promise is made, and if there is honesty about the intent to sleep around with others,,,,and a mutual agreement to do so,, thats between the parties involved

there have been times when I considered it (didnt follow through), but in hindsight, those werent people I was truly 'in love' with and seemed a way to fill in the emptiness and non connect with something that could be a 'special' connection we shared by doing something so taboo and open together

I cant see sharing something so intimate if I am IN LOVE with a person except that person,,,it makes it more meaningful, to me

Monogamy is one of the most important things to me. I hope to be in a relationship where neither one of us needs an excused to look for outside parties.

I have a selfish husband. He only wants me. :)

And I find that extremely sexy.

Relationships take trust and communication whether they are open or monogamous. It is up to the people involved in the relationship how is will function and it's their business.

Open relationships are not something that I have or plan to ever engage in.

Monogamy? You are all beautifully brainwashed by the social machine. Men like to spread their seed around. It is their natural state of being. Women are naturally faithful to ensure that they nurture and raise their young in a stable, safe environment. Of course, we do have the few exceptions to this rule but for the majority, that is the case. This is how biology ensures the perpetuation of the human species. With the overpopulation concerns, the dynamics have changed so that men are now discouraged from spreading their seed by the state established laws of child support. Nothing puts a freeze on the "spreading of the seed" male urge better than state enforced child support. Men are no longer so quick to have multiple children now that they are forced to take care of them financially. That cuts deep into their wallets. We have further emasculated the men in society from their natural urges by brainwashing them to have only one family, making polygamy illegal. This is another state strike against overpopulation. The enforcement of monogamous, one family units is a myth and a state lie. Look at the high divorce rates as proof. You cannot go against nature. You can only circumvent it and only for so long. These state enforced relationships have a short life span and when men do what is natural to their nature, it is labeled as cheating and they are made to feel bad and guilty. Secretly, men would love to have multiple wives or girlfriends and get away with it. Monogamy is not in the man's nature.

With that said, of course I want a monogamous relationship. That is being true to my nature as a female. And I would love a socially brainwashed monogamous man as my husband, although secretly he would love an open marriage or relationship. Too bad for him.

to metalwing,

I agree, it really doesn't constitutes a relationship. many skeptics may challenge us on that note!

its probably not 'natural' to use a toilet either,, but thank goodness we evolved a bit from our most 'natural' proclivities,,,,,

men dont have to be brainwashed, some WANT monogamy and exclusivity and others do not

they just need to be HONEST about which they are, cause with the reality of birth control, condoms, abortion,,, they are in much better control of how many 'seeds' they spread,,and can be with as many women as they want,,if they want

We still take a dump the same way. We just changed WHERE. :-) So no evolving has really taken place in terms of biological function.

I stand by my original post here.
