Seems like there are more out there then you would think with some of the comments . . . hehe.

Before I got into computers I was in carpentry, before that land development with heavy machinery, before that installing pools and the needed pluming, before that an assistant auto mechanic.

Aptitude is not learned, experience is.

HOWEVER, if someone asks me to fix there car they can go **** you know what. In fact most manual labor is beneath my pay grade these days, anyone find that sexy? lol.

There is more in experience and skills than the paycheck.

I didn't get to take shop classes in high school, and am NOT a Mr. Fix it. I can and do some simple "fix its"

Replace toilet
Replace leaky seat valve in faucet.
Replace faucets.
Lay laminate flooring
Add wooden stairs to existing deck.
Pour concrete/textured walk way.
Wrestle full sized railroad ties for landscaping projects.
Unclog drains, I don't like to use a big snake but I have done it.
Replace electrical out lets, light fixtures without electrocuting myself or setting house on fire.
Paint interior house, but I am real picky about the prep. and clean up.

and very, very limited car repairs.

I probably shouldn't say this...BUT...sometimes not having a man is a good thing. I have learned how to do many things on my own because I had to. It gives me even more independence and confidence in myself because I don't have to depend on someone else. Don't get me wrong, at times it is nice to have someone to do these things for you once in awhile, but it's always nice to learn what you can do on your own when you try.

I'm starting to get my own collection of tools that I can use anytime I please and don't have to ask permission.

I have my own tools. And can fix things and make things. But I don't have the patience to do some. I have learned since I was a little girl how to fix things and build things.

But when it comes to outside stuff like gardening and mowing the lawn, I am all for it!

Just because someone might like a guy who is handy, doesn't mean that they themselves are not. Or will rely souly on their significant other to fix things.

One of my biggest turn-ons is a woman who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty once in a while and has no problem learning how to get it done!

I check my own oil, trans fluis, etc. I did make the mistake once of putting transmission fluid where the brake fluid goes..oops...lesson learned, won't do that again. I do enjoy learning how to do things for myself.

I admire a man that's handy, but agree with Cherie. I've learned to fix quite a few things around the house and get all jazzed when I acquire a new "skill!" I'm starting to build a healthy little tool bench myself...even a couple power tools!

Do I look as good as a bare chested guy with a leather tool belt swinging from my hips??? Not yet...but I'm working on it!!

You realize that in some industries, the guy who can run a shovel is now the highest paid, highest in demand...
