Bushidobillyclub,

I'm just going to agree to disagree with you. I have a bit of a headache and I need to start lunch. I don't see anything in what you posted to believe that eyewitness evidence is the worst form of evidence.

:D Have you ever worked in that area?

Show five people a scene... wait ten minutes, and then ask for their description of what happened. You'll get six versions, and not one of them is exact (and you can be happy if you can build what happened from taking parts of all six).

That goes so far as clothing... built of the people that have been there... the memory of man is selective, has to be, and normally what happened and interests you later did not have the focus of the witness when it happened!

How do you get six versions from five people? o.O

One of them bi-polar? xD

All THAT takes is asking one of the people twice ;)

I have to say I firmly believe in and support Ron White's take on the death penalty.
You know Ron...(Tater Salad) White.
" Texas has passed a law that if there are 3 or more verifiable witnesses to a murder....The killer wont sit on death row. He goes to the front of the line. While other states are tryin to abolish the death penalty.......Texas has put in an....Express lane."
laugh bigsmile laugh

I live in Texas and agree with the actions for death row......Shake them and bake them.....If there is no doubt they did it hit the button on the express lane and get it over with...

Witnesses are the worst form of evidence.

I like the idea, but in practice its terrible.

Yep. I have two friends and we can all swear that you killed someone. Now lets get our stories strait. ....

Colo. Authorities: Deceased serial killer Vincent Groves may have had up to 20 victims from 1970s - '80s..

Deceased serial killer Vincent Groves has now been linked to the deaths of four more women between 1979 and 1988. He may have been responsible for as many as 20 homicides, authorities said Wednesday.

Groves was originally convicted of second-degree murder in 1982 for killing 17-year-old Tammy Sue Woodrum and was released in 1987 on mandatory parole.

So, next time, we send convicts of second degree murder, released after 5 years (don't know how much that originally was, here it would have been about 7, 8 years - might be a sentence here if you run over a red light, and cause an accident in which someone is killed) to get the injection?

The guy was convicted of second degree murder - that's what you can blame on him. Where would you draw the line for a death sentence? Shoplifting?

danke..

Comparing running a redlight and vehicular homicide to sadistic rape torture and strangulation seems a bit strange to me.

He was suspected of committing murders from 1978, but they didn't have DNA testing, obviously and he wasn't admitting it.

He was sentenced to 12 years and served 5..

You don't administer capital punishment for every felony or even in this case.. 2nd degree murder..

But 5 years for killing a 17 yo in a brutal fashion is disturbing..

first, I think the justice system is the best we have right now but could be much better

second, ID like to comment that the justice system itself has some corrupt and dishonest and egocentric people, that when they think they are right about a 'suspect',, thats it and there is no other focus

It seems to be motivating many judges and district attorneys to 'win cases' as opposed to actually finding the truth, and alot of times they will 'link' multiple cases to one person just because they can,, and not necessarily because its true

but it makes them look like they are solving more cases, and like they care,,,

Okay, I just looked that up some - I become happier each day that I will not be working american law, let alone american CRIMINAL law...

Over here, you can get five years in said red light case, say if you panick and drive away... for a twelve year sentence, well, say you get into a bar brawl, and someone gets killed along the way...

To make myself clear, I might even consider a death penalty as just - but I would never admit that ANY judical system in the world could muster the required divine infallibility required to make absolutely sure you have the right person...

I think we should expand our Capitol Offences to include child rape and molestation and violent rape crimes.

If I was falsely accused, I rather be killed than sit in prison the rest of my natural life so if the system actually worked and it was done swiftly I would be for it.

Several years ago I was talking to a bondsman and he said the night they, Indiana Justus, executed the first person after the moratorium crime took a holiday. There was nobody to bond out of jail. In November of 32 FDR was elected president. Since he would not be sworn in until April he nothing to do so he wonders around making speeches. At one of these speeches some body shoot at hem and killed the mayor of Chicago. The perpetrator was apprehended and when through the system and was hung. The funny thing FDR still had two months to wonder. I just heard that a man spent thirty years on death row.

Two things: any effect that the death penalty has been neutralized because of the justice systems inability to do its job.

I do not think we should let our government do any thing that can not be rectified at a later date.

whats your opinion on the death penalty?

The death penalty shows proof a dumber human race than we should have been by now.

Antiquated barbarism of neandrathal quality.

i have to disagree, i believe in survival of the fittest, natural selection... if your dumb enough to do something that warrants the death penalty, then they deserve what they get. An eye for an eye law is not all bad... the muslims actually have a good philosophy there.
