The Bible commands that husbands should love their wives and wives submit to their husbands.men who love their wives don-t have to remind them to be submissive, its only those who withhold their love from their wives who struggle.women respond very well to love .lets hear from men ,wht do you think ?

The bible was written a very long time ago and people should realise that much of it doesn't apply to modern society. Many believers will disagree and choose to live in a way that is not best for them or their happiness. I find it very pitiful.

I feel really timid when i think of a man trying to dominate me, as it can be a good excuse for a man to have full control of my body. I don't like the thought of that. There are just some things i'll never do. I prefer we both make our own rules (me and potential partner). Make it fun, not uncomfortable.

I basically agree with you & Dan both (the only comments I read)

it is important to remember the context of the era that the bible was written in, but submit doesn't mean noway bowing down and being a doormat

in any era, I always interpreted that to mean being understanding, supportive and pleasant to one's husband. That was also my Catholic teaching as best as I can remember it

And, I also agree with the OP, if a man is a loving husband who is not distant, mean, curt, and fickle, he will have no problems with his wife submitting - in terms of pleasantries or sex - at least that has been my experience

all most of us want is for you guys to really LIKE us & treat us kindly in addition to wanting in our bloomerslaugh

I couldn't live with a submissive woman. I prefer independent can-do women who think and speak their minds.

submission doesnt require a woman to not think for themself or speak their minds

it requires respect for the husband

It is a interesting topic. God, Satan and Jesus were never married. But we all are supposed to be God's children and from what I have read Nuns are supposed to be brides of Jesus. But Mary was a good woman and never went after God for child support. Since she was married to Joseph it is easy to see where it would have been thrown out of court. Paul said that it was better to marry than to burn. We get some good advice from King David to one of his many sons named King Solomon later. I would think that good marriage advice could come people who were actually married. But that is just me.

many married people are miserably so, so I dont necessarily think that would make them the best counsel on marriage

in any case, I have also received advise from happily married christian couples who agree with the 'roles' of the bible where the man provides AND CHERISHES his family and the wife SUPPORTS AND CHERISHES hers,,,

The woman who wanted to marry me touted her submissiveness and how I would make all decisions. I don't like that, decisions should be made together.

Do you think a person who has been married many times would have any better advice than a person who has been married only once but for a long time?

I dont think the duration would indicate knowledge at all

I think the complete/successful relationship would indicate knowledge

a person married three times but finally HAPPILY And SUCCESSFULLY Married may have better knowledge and advise than the one who just stuck out a miserable marriage their whole life

a person happily married for a lifetime, would have the most ideal advice,,,

Do you think it easier for a man to submit to a woman or for a woman to submit to a man? Submission I think could be like surrendering.

My animals respect me, I don't teach them submission tactics when I train them. Submission signifies fear. The only time I expect fear and submission is when something happens and I come down on them like a ton of bricks, so to speak. Then I expect a response fast and furious and instantaneously. Its enough of a shock, that it works.

The whole BS from the biblical aspect that submission means respect doesn't fly with me. Call it respect, then. You don't need two different words for a man and a woman if they both mean the same thing. But then I believe most fundamentalists DO believe that women should submit, literally. No questions asked, no thoughts of ones own.

Amen to that!! My dogs have always obeyed me cause they were taught out of love. I should respect a womans wishes as she respects mine and dominance is a sign of control and not carring WHAT the other person thinks in a relationship!!! I do believe in God but when one takes the Bible word for word as Gods command they are blind!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhh, you just know I was just waiting for this question!

I am a submissive in a sexual relationship. That does not mean that I cannot be the dominant,(I certainly like roll reversal) but I prefere the days of "Scarlett Ohara" and "Rhett Butler" when he said, "frankly Scarlette, I dont give a damn", and swooped her up in his arms, and carried her to the bedroom.

Its JMO, but I find it much sexier, and much more exciting, when the man takes charge, between the sheets....it makes me feel like more of a woman, than a man, and thats hot!

What do I think? It will be a cold day in hell before I become submissive to any man.

Considering the advantages that a man would have in a relationship with a submissive woman, I cannot imagine that there is a man worthy of that much control over others. It makes the balance of power too much to one side.

He gets to do what he wants when he wants with no regard to how it effects others, they best just accept it. Not happening.

He is the man so what applies to others as in the activities, show of respect, etc... does not apply to him.

He gets to use the bible to beat his authority into his family usually so he can take advantage of the situation for his benefit. Controlling all the money, determining who is monogamous in the relationship and who isn't, etc...

Just not a good situation for a woman to be in no matter what.

It is kinda like making the man into god and submitting to him.

Not happening with any woman who sees her own worth, I would bet.
