The hypocrisy of this shithead defending himself claiming it was only discipline is a judge who handles child abuse cases. Now the state's judicial conduct commission and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services are investigating him and he has been relieved of his duties until the investigation is over. The police watched the video after it was brought to their attention and said that a crime had occurred and that charges would have been brought against him if the video was released a few years ago.

Good.

People, you have no right to beat your children. They are just children. For crap sake.

My sister had the three most difficult children I have ever seen. One was hyperactive, the other has hormonal disorders. She never once had to hit any of them and they grew up to be responsible and awesome members of society. She raised them with lots and lots of love and patience.

We all grew up in a generation who spanked their kids. We think its normal and alright to do that. We also never put our children in car seats or made them wear seat belts.

Come out of the dark ages. Stop assaulting your kids.

There's a difference between spanking and what this dude did, what he did is assault.

In this society, you can't even beat your dog. You can't hit old people. You can't hit anyone without being charged with assault and battery.

If you have a dog on a leash and your dog barks and growls at someone as you pass them on the street that is legally classified as an assault.

Why then do people think they can hit their children?

If I was that girl, I would hire a lawyer and charge her father with assault and battery.

Just because a PERSON happens to be your child does not give YOU the right to hit them.

It is assault and battery. Legally.

Or is there a law on the books somewhere that says we can beat and hit our children?

Never in my life have I ever heard of a dog barking or growling at someone as assault......now that's assinine

Legally it qualifies as an assault, unless the dog is in a fenced area.

If I was walking down the street and your dog ran out towards me barking and growling... I could charge YOU with assault. If your dog bites me, I can charge you with assault and battery.

A dog is a weapon.

Often times (and I've witnessed it more than once) people react stupidly and try running which triggers the canines natural instinct and they get bit. as a result of the persons stupidity the dog ends up being killed. Antoher thing I have witnessed is people not recognizing a dog that is out of its element and scared. I have my fair share of animals (wild and domestic) charge me and the first thing you do is remain calm and watch the dog and if necessary get real big and ****in' mean. This has gotten off topiclaugh

Yes I know. So spanking is assault and battery.

I'm sure the child was warned, and yelled at. That's the assault part. LOL

I believe assault can be either verbal or physical.

Otherwise what do they mean by "sexual assault?"

Does that mean they threatened to rape you?

No its not assaulting someone is verbal if even touch someone it becomes battery

If I slap you its assault, if I punch you it becomes battery because of the more serious nature of the crime. I don't know of anyone going to jail for verbally "assaulting" someone unless your being verbally offensive to a cop then it becomes assault.

Yes, I think "verbal" assault has to be a threat. Like "I'm going to kill you." But assault can be a physical touch on the shoulder, grab of the arm, verbal threat etc.

So technically, if you are in a bar and a bouncer grabs your arm and escorts you in a threatening manner to the door, that is an assault.

He assaulted her verbally creating fear of violence and then battered her

The below definition (Wiki) does not exclude physical contact. But an assault can be without physical contact. If the act causes you to fear violence, (a threat) or any form of show of force. (Waving a bat, threatening to unleash your dog, etc.)

In law, assault is a crime causing a victim to fear violence. The term is often confused with battery, which involves physical contact. The specific meaning of assault varies between countries, but can refer to an act that causes another to apprehend immediate and personal violence, or in the more limited sense of a threat of violence caused by an immediate show of force.

Whatever. You still shouldn't beat your children.

What would happen if someone else spanked your child? Why should a parent have any more right to hit their child than anyone else?

Now, even it you threaten to hit your child, you are guilty of assault. laugh laugh laugh

Assault: A crime that occurs when one person tries to physically harm another in a way that makes the person under attack feel immediately threatened. Actual physical contact is not necessary; threatening gestures that would alarm any reasonable person can constitute an assault. Assault is often charged with battery, which requires intended physical contact

battery:
A crime consisting of physical contact that is intended to harm someone. Unintentional harmful contact is not battery, no mater how careless the behavior or how severe the injury. A fist fight is a common battery; being hit by a wild pitch in a baseball game is not.

from http://www.nolo.com/dictionary/assault-term.html

assault:
The act required for an assault must be overt. Although words alone are insufficient, they might create an assault when coupled with some action that indicates the ability to carry out the threat. A mere threat to harm is not an assault; however, a threat combined with a raised fist might be sufficient if it causes a reasonable apprehension of harm in the victim

the law would not see it that way, nor do I.

but I agree you shouldnt BEAT your children

spanking them is another issue

others do spank my kids, particularly other related elders and step parents,, and I have no issue if they are given choices to avoid them

kids need discipline, must like they need food, I dont fret when a loving adult feeds my child, nor do I fret when they discipline them

when its needed,,,
