Actually the law does see it that way.

Battery is battery.

Hitting a child is not "discipline" it is battery. People should not hit children.

There are other ways to discipline children.

They are children for crap sake. Little people. Don't hit your dog and don't hit your child.

I didnt say hitting a child. I said spanking a child. In most states, it is NOT considered battery.

A Texas family law judge whose daughter secretly videotaped him savagely beating her seven years ago won't face criminal charges because too much time has elapsed, police said Thursday.

William Adams, 51, issued a three-page statement Thursday saying his daughter posted the clip to get back at him for telling her he would be reducing the amount of financial support he gives her and taking away her Mercedes. The statement did not include an apology for the beating, but he told Corpus Christi television station KZTV on Wednesday that the video "looks worse than it is," that he had already apologized to his daughter and that he was just disciplining his child for stealing.
Hillary Adams says her parents were angry because she had downloaded pirated content online, and that she turned on the camera because she sensed something was going to happen.
William Adams, who presides over child abuse cases, is still being investigated by the state's judicial conduct commission and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, which on Thursday requested that he be removed from its cases until the investigation concludes.

Has anyone seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl9y3SIPt7o&feature=youtu.be

Now that you have what do you think?

If this is for real..the parents should be locked up. I do not believe this. The father should be castrated ...the mother a disgrace.

Agreed

I love how violent punishment is the call of those so opposed to punishment they considerd violent,,,smh

Im all for him being 'spanked' in the same manner, besides that, seems she was well provided for and no report of any hospital visits or other injuries,,,the outrage is a bit dramatic in my opinion,,,just like the teenagers performance on the video

I consider it battery.

You have to hit a child to spank them.
So what's the difference? Where you hit them?
If its on the butt, then its okay? Please!

People do not own their children. Children are people.

Have they no rights at all? Why? Because they are children?

You can't hit a stranger, or a dog, but you can hit a child?
(Who by the way, can't defend them self and/or isn't allow to defend them self.)

Spanking is hitting.

Come out of the dark ages.

Did you know they passed laws against cruelty to animals before there was any law against cruelty to children or child abuse?

Then they are lying according to the video the parents kept saying playing a video game online and defying her parents. And it didn't look worse than it was......I hope he does lose his job presiding over child abuse cases.....he should be disbarred......and he is pbviously telling lies about the why of it so why should he be believed when he says its because of money that she did it......If I had had video of what my stepfather had done I would have posted it to get back at him

Apparently the mother is backing up the childs statements and stating that it was released due to a court case for the judge to take custody of their ten year old daughter.....And for the judge to seek help....I hope he loses the case it would be unfortuanate if their youngest child were to fall under his control....the wife has stated that she also was abused at his hands.......I believe that he should be disbarred as stated in my previous post....

Spanking a child with a leather belt is OK, its like saying that shooting someone with a small caliber bullet is much kinder than blowing their head off with a shotgun.

Spanking??? I was waiting for the guy in Question to demand that the girl dropped her knickers as well?????????????????????????????Weird situation. I still cannot believe that this is true.

As I said. Do what works with YOUR children. I know what worked and works in my family. People do OWN their children in the sense that they are RESPONSIBLE for them and their actions in a way they dont hold responsibility over a strangers actions. People have to guide, teach and direct and correct their children and they dont have to do these things with strangers. People have an obligation to 'tell' children how to act and behave although they dont have the right to do it with a stranger.

TOTALLY different relationship with TOTALLY different standards.
Children have the right to learn and grow. to be rewarded for good behaviors and to be corrected for disobeying rules,, JUST like they will when they become adults.

there is a difference between hitting which can lead to death or injury and giving licks to a well padded behind ESPECIALLY if it WORKS as a corrective method.

Im not in the dark ages. Im realistic. My children are not STRANGERS. they are MY responsibility and when they become adults they will be less likely to feel like the world should just understand and talk to them about whatever havoc they cause, they will understand the more REALISTIC potential that they might be hamred, hurt, or even have their behinds tossed in prison(not without some physical discomfort either).

A spanking now to prevent some cop brutalizing them later,, absolutely

A spanking now to prevent them from feeling like they can question whatever I tell them and burn in some fire or get hit by some car because they havent learned to REACT to what they are told FIRST....absolutely

,, do what works, use a balance of discipline and reward

its an equation that has worked for centuries in plenty of families,, and continues to in mine

if it doesnt work for you, dont use it

quite simple

I guess its all perception. I tend to think the mother and daughter are lying. All they have as proof is some overacted , staged, video where the mother herself obviously felt she needed discipline. If either felt so threatened, why would the mother leave and the daughter CHOOSE to continue to stay instead of be with the mother? Now the daughter and mother are going to claim they are doing this because he wants his other daughter to stay with him (the way she herself CHOSE to?)

all sounds like a setup to me,,,

Obviously you havent been in an abusive situation for any amount of time including long term.........you will do what you are told mostly because you are used to being controlled...and if the father is as controlling as he seems well then yes she would have stayed it could have been for many reasons.....because that was the only way for hr to keep medical for her condition or several reason he may have been holding over her head.....especially mental abuse does many things to a person....and you are assuming someone is thinking in a sound mind.....why doesnt an abused wife leave her husband.....or a hostage protect her captor??

no judge would take away medical from a child in a divorce, if the mother had an out, so did the child

an abused doesnt leave her husband because she has no out, she is alone and has noone to turn to

I dont know that they werent abused, and what you are saying does happen, I just dont BELIEVE this pair of women as it pertains to the story they have told

I probably am. IF there are two issues people usually feel immediate guilt for an accused about its sex or abuse of a child. The 'child' is usually given the benefit of honesty in the court of public opinion. I go by more than just the adult/child status of an accuser though.

All this scum bum had to do was take her computer and cell phone away for a month. The girl obviously set up him knowing what he was going to do because he's done this before, this is how this criminal behaves on a regular basis and is why the daughter is saying he needs help. The guy is an idiot and something tells me the people of Aransus county Texas will be hiring a new judge.

only if they can prove he has violated his bench.

I dont believe it happened regularly because I Believe they would have sued for complete custody of the younger child if this was the case. I believe the mother would have been too scared to tell this 'danger' of a man NO (when he requested the belt in the video).

Instead, the younger daughter has continued to be with this 'danger' of a man just like the older daughter chose to do.

doesnt add up for me, I will just stay in the minority who believes he is innocent until something else is presented that PROVES he is guilty.
