SNAKE CAUSES WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGE

According to Westar representatives, a snake on a Westar breaker caused an hour and a half power outage Sunday night for 1,368 Westar customers. It took power out for customers in Madison, Lamont, Hamilton, Quincy, Virgil, Olpe, Bearden, Arkansas City, Cassoday, Teeterville, Browning, Saffordville, Cottonwood Falls, Williams Brothers Pipeline, and the Lyon Co. Coop. It was reported that electricity flashed off and on in Eureka as well. The power was out from 10:41 pm until 12:08 am.

That was one massive power outage; all most a 250 mile circle!

Thinking about my Grandaddy who, at age 90, passed away last night. It hurts to lose a loved one but I am so thankful for him and the great memories I made with him.

WOW - 90 yrs young; and you got to know him and spend some quality time with him as well --- how wonderful. Not something I got to do with my fathers side of his family; and there's soooo many questions about his childhood that I'd love to have asked.

{{hugs}} and healing prayers from your loss!

Univision dropping Miss USA pageant over Donald Trump comments

NBC drops Donald Trump over comments about immigrants
By Kate Sheehy June 29, 2015 | 2:34pm

You're fired!
NBC gave Donald Trump the ax Monday over his anti-immigrant remarks.

The network said it was ending its 'business relationship' with the real-estate magnate and now-presidential candidate after he claimed that Mexico is dumping the worst of its worst on the US.

Mexico is 'sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs and bringing crime and their rapists," Trump asserted during his campaign launch earlier this month.

NBC said it will now no longer air the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, which were joint ventures between NBC and Trump.

Trump has already said he wouldn't be appearing on the network's show 'The Apprentice' because of his presidential bid.

But NBC said the spinoff 'Celebrity Apprentice' will continue without him.

'At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values,' the network said in a statement.

'Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBC Universal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.

'To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC .

'In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in 'Celebrity Apprentice' on NBC. Celebrity Apprentice is licensed from Mark Burnett's United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue.'

The network's move came on the heels of a change.org petition that garnered more than 200,000 signatures urging NBC to drop Trump.

It also follows a decision by Spanish-language powerhouse Univision last week to yank its broadcast of the pageants in protest of Trump's remarks.

Trump told reporters at an event in Chicago on Monday that 'whatever [NBC] wants to do is OK with me.

"NBC, frankly, I've had a great relationship with them,"
he said, according to the Web site Deadline, quoting a local ABC affiliate that covered the event.

'But they didn't want me to run because they wanted to do 'The Apprentice.' I just told them I cannot do 'The Apprentice' because of the fact that I'm running.

'They were not happy with this, and now, with my statements on immigration, which happen to be correct, they are going to take a different stance - that's OK,"
he said. 'Whatever they want to do is okay with me.

'I've had a lot of great relationships with NBC. As far as ending the relationship, I have to do that, because my view on immigration is much different than the people at NBC.

'You have to stop illegal immigration. I know NBC might disagree with me, but you cannot have illegal immigration. You do not have a country if you do. I told NBC I can't change my stance. My stance on immigration is correct.'

Well, it is real, and either it is a new thing, or I have
never been off long enough to be 'wooed' back with numbers!

I've been getting those since I joined April 13th; there was an option to be notified by email on my profile account --- so I clicked on it for any messages that I might have --- since I'm primarily on the community forum and not really into wading through those mass amounts of 40 and under that get plastered all over my profile account!
I'll trudge in there once a week and clear it out --- either they are way to young or from some 3rd world country --- BFE and beyond grumble

laugh kinda-of-like just throwing it all against the wall and hoping that it will snag some-warm-body and the after thought was like - hmmmmm surprised perhaps I need to define my generalization more!!!

People really need to 'read their messages' or better yet have someone proof those messages prior to sending them:
A) does this sound sexist
B) is this offensive
C) would I get a smack on the forehead for what I just sent
D) will this want the recipient post a 'GUARD DOG' at her entrance
E) would my mother want to wash my mouth out with soap if I ever thought/said those things out loud spock slaphead

When I was in high school it was Nancy Drew - any murder mystery type books but they were few and far between back then!

Later it became the history of America and all of our wars!
That took several years - then I gradually became addicted to biographies and especially those of our elected people; WOW those tell all books were eye openers to be sure! surprised

Now I'll read about anything and everything that has to do with social issues and what other nations are doing about their problems!

But I've loaded many a:
Dean Koontz
J. Patterson
S. King
Sue Grafton
Mary Higgins Clark
T. Capote
J. Grisham
G. Greene
T. Hillerman
Frederick Forsyth
**************************

Do any of you have to copy their published works and highlight what you've read in order to keep track; I'm finding that I've often picked up a book or loaded one and got the way into it and stop to think - 'gee this sounds very familiar' and yes, I've read it already! slaphead

I should have highlighted this about the USA:

How is it the greatest? My dear man, where to I begin? It is obvious. You can start with the Constitution to its beautiful landscape to its melting pot to its aid to other countries to its being a trendsetter for all others to its democratic process to its global leadership. Granted, our leaders have not always been perfect but we all stumble from time to time. The foundations on which the USA are based are strong and admired by all.

This is what I learned/heard on Steve Garvey Show just last week: he had a social specialist from some single dating site and her #1 advice was: "it's going to take sending and responding to at least 60 times the number of listing's and messages that you notice/desire on any given 'SINGLE WEB SITE' just because of the mass numbers of 'SCAMMERS & PERVERTS' that have access now to those same places!"

But - BUT...just don't give up; amongst all of the 'Scammers & Perverts' are those REAL HUMANS that sincerely have your same hopes & desires to meet and fall in love & live forever after!

Notice I didn't say 'HAPPILY' ever after; nothing is written in stone surprised

It's all about the WORK that we/you put into it --- that seems to be the #1 hang up most of us have --- impatient and working the SINGLE SITE!

TY one & all for your input; and what I enjoyed and brought it all front & center to me was the 'VISUAL IMAGE' of the graphs and how much of 'ALL THOSE 6' hot button issues have occurred just since 'I' was born!

We live in a remarkable world and our technology has 'KICKED A$$' and we 'ALL' are so more able to:
a) do want we want for entertainment/social settings
b) be what we want for job
c) marry whom ever we chose too
d) go where ever we so desire to live
Certainly there are things that need 'FIXING/CHANGE' but look at that graph for the speed in which most of our 'EQUALITY' social issues have occurred and it rocks my total being

This topic and those graphs just really hit my  this morning; and for all the hate and vitriol that gets pushed & pulled - shoved & spewed...we continue as a GREAT NATION TO STUMBLE FORWARD and do great things for 'ALL OF OUR CITIZENS'!

YELLING - WHOSE NEXT ~~~

This Is How Fast America Changes Its Mind

By Alex Tribou and Keith Collins
Updated: June 26, 2015

Eleven years after Massachusetts became the first state to allow same-sex couples to marry, the Supreme Court has now extended that right nationwide. The decision came after a wave of gay marriage legalization: 28 states from 2013 to 2015, with 36 overall prior to the Court's ruling. Such widespread acceptance in a short amount of time isn't a phenomenon unique to gay marriage. Social change in the U.S. appears to follow a pattern: A few pioneer states get out front before the others, and then a key event—often a court decision or a grassroots campaign reaching maturity—triggers a rush of state activity that ultimately leads to a change in federal law.

We looked at six big issues—interracial marriage, prohibition, women’s suffrage, abortion, same-sex marriage, and recreational marijuana — to show how this has happened in the past, and may again in the very near future.[b/]
********** {last paragraph - right before the 'SPEED OF THE CHANGE' graph is shown! >>>

If the pattern holds, the marijuana legalization movement may take far less time than other issues to gain widespread acceptance. Though the pattern of social change may have remained largely the same over the years, change is happening faster now. It took almost 200 years before the Supreme Court disposed of the last state laws banning interracial marriage. The prohibition movement spanned seven decades before passage of the 18th Amendment. Now, gay couples have gone from not being able to marry in any state to being able to marry in all 50 in little more than a decade.

The time from the trigger point to federal action is even shorter. It took 19 years for the Supreme Court to follow a California court in striking down interracial marriage bans. The Supreme Court struck down bans on same-sex marriage only two years after its first pivotal decision on the issue.

i'm not disagreeing that NWO might be making a grab, seems evident enough, but did you think that maybe they just took advantage of situations instead of creating these situations? to me, that seems much more likely...

Highly plausible to my mind also; the movers & shakers of this world know when an opportunity presents itself and are quite able to 'JUMP' on that event and the subsequent human shock that follows the horror!

I changed my last name for my first marriage {my practice 9 months} then took my maiden name back and when I remarried I hyphenated it because of my college degrees and my notary public was listed with my maiden name.

A co-worker named Jim Dorothy was engaged to a young lady named Dorothy ______ something; so her name would have become Mrs. Dorothy Dorothy...so Jim & Dorothy decided to keep her maiden name and hyphenate it!
Pissed his family off - upset her parents and so Jim just had his named changed to her last name since there were so many pissed off people and her check writing was a issue too!
